Best review of a watch i have ever seen. Detailed, on point, treats the watch like any watch and not just endless praise because of the brand. The all the straps you tried on.. wow. Thats above and beyond. I hope your other reviews are just as good. Anyways, you got another sub. Another drop in the ocean :p

Great video, Tanks are becoming more and more trendy for millenniums so this is actually a perfect casual watch with the right strap. I’d love to see another video with it on various strap types, particularly nato, bund, rubber and really distressed leathers. It looks absolutely perfect on your wrist. I definitely agree that its more traditional Tank Louis style is a huge improvement over the Solo. For such a dressy piece I am so amazed at what a strap monster it is! I picked up a Reverso Duoface recently, and although being only about 10mm thick, it wears quite proud of my wrist. I'm envious how the Cartier wears so gracefully in comparison.

Great Video - interesting is also the Tank Must XL (41 x 31 mm) in stainless steel with handwound inhouse calibre 1847 MC and steel bracelet - a real tank with a tank chain (bracelet), no tampering. The dial has an inner flinqué decoration, and a date. First I thought it is too massive - but meanwhile I think it is a real killer - history at your wrist in a modern size. The Tank Louis Cartier in rosegold is for dressing up. Thanks again - great review

Echoing your comment on the crown. I got this watch for my wife and she really likes it. I watched your review before I bought it and the comment about the short crown travel didn't really register with me at the time. But in the first few weeks of ownership we noticed something odd where it seemed like it was losing time, and after much investigating I finally noticed myself how short the crown travel was and I think maybe we had not pushed it in all the way. Otherwise, we love the watch and it's a big improvement over the Solo.
@elitebicycleracers

Thanks for the detailed review. I was surprised how few reviews there are on this watch so far. It's a classic design and relatively understated and inconspicuous. I think this size will also look good on a smaller, female wrist to give the watch a slightly oversized look. My wife did not want me to buy her a fancy watch, I think because she would feel self-conscious. I'm hoping she will let me get her this one as again, it's not loud or flashy. I like the version with a bracelet, but I also think an aftermarket strap is a good option for versatility and make it even less conspicuous for occasions where that is the desire.

The actual movement of the watch is a cartier 157, sometimes called ebel 157, since the cartier 157 is a modified version of ebels version. Cartier doesnt usually use ETA movements nowadays, since ETA is exclusively used in swatch group watches, such as tissot, omega (currenlty making more and more in house movements, but has used a lot of 7750, for example), or, well, swatch itself. There a some cartier movements based on ETA movements, but this one is definetely not. It's hard getting infos on this movement, its review in caliber corner is deep to an extent (it says very little about the watches it equips). Cartier has been more and more lazy when talking calibers, the recent 1847MC sucks, and still equips watches of 6000 usd, such as the santos, while piaget based movements equip watches of similar price, and that pisses me off. The cartier 157 is reliable, but dont think youre getting what youre paying for. 3000usd for an ok quartz movement is not ideal, but tbh, i'd still buy one, but I strongly advise anyone who wants to buy a cartier watch to do a research before spending their lifesavings on a watch with a shitty movement. Good cartier movements are usually piaget based, based on other caliber makers (such as ebel), or ETA based, there are only a few cartier in house movements that are actually reliable. Hope I helped, and that I havent lost you guys attention lol.

This new Tank Must large has the same dimensions and shape (and clasp) as the Tank Louis - unlike the Tank Solo. So although it is a lot of money for a quartz watch, it is not a lot for an icon.
@tomasinacovell4293
@tomasinacovell4293 Жыл бұрын
Quartz movements are alright with any Tank, because there's no Seconds hand to give it away, and in an all stainless steel case it's far more tasteful than gold-dipped, gold-filled whatever cases. However; I did like their older more script style logo than the sterile, "modern" block letter version they use now. The SEIKO Tank is a wonderful alternative and also well executed.

I think I'm going to give one of these a shot, sooner rather than later. While I wish the water resistance was a bit better, I guess it does what it's meant to do. Stylistically this watch is so versatile, as I find it's much easier to dress down a dress watch than it is to dress up a sports watch.

Great review as usual! I own the Tank Solo, I actually rushed to get it when this watch was announced, as they also announced the Solo was going to be discontinued, and I do prefer the more flat edges and smaller crown when compared to this one. What's interesting is both my watch and yours have the same original strap, and I do agree that it is bad quality, but the Solo strap also comes with a Cartier deployant with a unique "C" buckle. It's a little disappointing that Cartier did not include the deployant here even though this watch costs the same as mine, but personally I prefer standard tang buckle anyway.

It is a classic. I actually think Cartier has surpassed it in other models, and I gravitate more to tonneau or stepped rectangular cases (e.g. Oris Rectangular, Patek Gondolo) in general. But this still has the best dial probably. I very much agree that rectangular watches are not meant to cover the whole of your wrist. It's at these sizes where they look best. It is what I expected but to my surprise it's quite a strap monster! And hey, if boomers can wear these with jeans & Hawaiian shirt I'd say anyone can. It is just cool as you said, and it gets real high fashion points - it's not just an old person thing.
@theknightswatch

It’s a watch I didn’t expect to like so much but it’s quickly becoming a favorite in my collection. I think I stepped and tonneau are more interesting but also something to be says about well executed simplicity!

@@mazrashid6549 Those are two great watches, tough choice. I suppose it comes down to how sporty you want it to be. If you have the DJ, and you have one of the best combos btw, it kind of has the Santos covered so I'd say get the tank. But it may be _too_ dressy. Tough choice.
