For a split second a bit past the 0:34 second mark it looks like cartoon cat is sad about his rabbit friend. That's interesting to me because it implies some level of empathy. When in other animations and depictions cartoon cat shows no empathy of any form

Funny thing is that this episode is called 'The lucky catch' and the Cartoon Rabbit is there. Walt Disney's first ever mascot, even before Mickey Mouse, was a character called 'Oswald the lucky rabbit'.
