I personally wouldn't recommend watching the trailer. While there aren't any major spoilers, it shows a lot of scenes pretty late in show and gives you an idea of where the show is headed.

A few relevant pieces of information that are never explicitly stated in the show: -Sinners and some high-ranking demons can't be permanently killed by normal means. They can be damaged, but they simply regenerate/respawn. They can only be permanently killed by angelic weaponry, which attacks the soul itself. That's what the yearly extermination is about, it's basically the only time sinners actually die in hell. -The show mainly takes place in Pentagram City, which is the largest city in the Pride Ring of Hell. There are 6 other rings, corresponding to the other deadly sins, however they don't appear in this show. The main reason for that, is that sinners only live in the Pride Ring. The rest of Hell is explored in the sister series Helluva Boss. -Hell has a hierarchy, which mostly corresponds to power. It's: 1. Lucifer: Ruler of all of hell and the personification of the sin of pride. 2. Lucifer's Family: Though Charlie has a lot of raw power, she doesn't really know how to use her abilities. Or want to for that matter. Her personality causes others not to take her seriously, despite her immense power and status. 3. The Personifications of the other Deadly Sins: They each rule a ring. 4. The Ars Goetia: Basically hellborn demon aristocracy. Like sinners, they can only be killed with angelic weaponry. 5. Overlords: The strongest sinners and de facto rulers of Pentagram City. Some rival the Ars Goetia in power. 6. Regular Sinners 7. Other Hellborn Demons Basically, while Alastor is very strong, there are still beings in hell stronger than him. However, most of them aren't relevant for this show. For all intents and purposes the Overlords can be treated as the top dogs of this show.
