Ben makes lectures just soooo entertaining. This for me is what chess is all about and the best way to learn, because I actually enjoy it. I literally laugh out loud at most of his jokes, specifically the ones such as "because Qh6 is mate, and that will give white the advantage" haha. Thanks again, as always Ben.

Caruana is Italian descent, but he's never lived in Italy and I'm told by people that speak Italian that Caruana's command of the Italian language isn't very good.

Come on Fiengold you can get to the point faster and more crisply. Watch Chess Explained or King Crusher. Granted, you have a home audience that apparently you discuss current topics with and allude to in your videos, but you have lost someone like me who just wants you to get to the point! I promise you'll get more likes and hits on KZfaq.

i didnt say that he had an impediment.. just that he needs to prepare what he going to say and then not kibbitz so much if he wants an international audience. but i see the videos are more focused on a local crowd, so its all good.he is a good man no doubt.

Ok, he is a good man but, I am talking about his analysis and presentation. It is not a personal thing. I've never met the guy. look at first game analysis, Caruana vs Meyer. His main points are that black attacks and fails. and then white wins. Does he say why black failed ..no other than obliquely claiming blacks white bishop was weak compared to white! That is not very good in my opinion. I mean what can u learn from this? Now if he a winning line or a defense for black that would be different story.

I am a teacher, and he is making an awasome display of didactics !! in other videos he shows what you want but when he does not tell is because is more or less obvious, is an opinion too ;)

I have to disagree. Actually Ben explained what went wrong for black. It's simply that white's bishop supports the attack while black's bishop doesn't. And this is because black traded pieces in a certain way. He didn't explain the moral though. "don't play this line of the French" ;-)
@Blaisem
@Blaisem 4 жыл бұрын
He doesn't spell it out for you. You have to pay attention and think, and even then you only glean a few information here and there. The nice thing about Ben though is that the things you do learn are correct. So many other YT channels digress on a line with incorrect reasoning, or they explain 5 different pathways 5 moves deep, so that you can no longer track what's going on. These are not only uninstructive but very long and tedious. You can either have a lot of fun but only morsels of instruction from Ben, or have no fun and receive an information overload, that as a student you aren't qualified to parse through for what's important. Chess is complex and no teacher is going to do it perfectly.
