A taste of life in the slow lane. Carving a whimsical Silver Birch feather spoon simply for the pleasure of carving. Though the spoon may not go on to be completed, I thought I would share this video of the cutting out process.

Wow,you have not been uploading to KZfaq for a while, your work has been teaching me how to carve your spo0ns & i carved your butterflys & a few fox pendents of yours. Thank you. Oh i also did your rabbit carving & a dog carving, they turned out awesome,i never ever stick @ carving one item. Some people make just sp0on of Kuksas ,i like to try a bit of everything, just like you do.

@@gilesnewman8555 I actually do my own bowl work, designed in my head. I wanted to try making pendants & found your beautiful work on go0gle & found your site. That is when i had to try your dimensions. And you are actually very correct,i started drawing, peter Rabbit holding a bucket yesterday morning,so0n it will be getting carved.

Giles, is that freshly cut silver birch or is it seasoned? I only found your spoons today whilst doing a Google Images search, as I'm just becoming interested in carving kuksas and spoons. Am totally blown away by the beauty of your carvings. What a joy it must be when you've created something like that - it must be so difficult to sell it afterwards as part of your soul is in it. Ah well, what better job could a person have than sitting in the lovely woods with your best pal, creating something wonderful that will still be here in 500 years?
