As a woodworker who has done a lot of carving, this is next level! I think most people wouldn't understand how physically taxing this kind of work is; hands, fingers, forearms, and wrists get tired really fast, even when using a power saw or a multi tool.

See here is the thing that blows my mind: when you started with that block of wood, at first I was with you and the way you were cutting according to the stencil, as a fellow artist who loves sculpture I could kind of see what you were doing. But then you started going ham on it with the chainsaw and for a long time I had no idea what you were doing. I don't mean this in a bad way. What I mean is that I could not see the art that that block of wood could become, I could not see the life hidden within it until you started detailing and then I could see the vision, understand the choices, but for a while there I was completely stumped and that's what made this so magical. It is literally magic the way that you, as you said, coaxed Venom out, it was beautiful. And of course the final result is just off of the charts. From one artist to another, my friend, this is absolutely mind-blowing.

@@stevecarter9596 I'm sure you could find some place much closer. Knowledge and practice creates a skill. Start with a book or two, some 2nd hand chisels and a few blocks of wood. If you can't dedicate at least a few dozen hours doing that then it's not for you. If you can practice the basics for hundreds of hours before ever even making something then you may have the will to become great. I used to try really hard to draw but would always try to draw advanced things like characters and after years and years I had barely improved. Then I spent a year just drawing basic 3 dimensional shapes in perspective and breaking down complex objects into those shapes. When I tried drawing what I liked again I couldn't even believe my own skill. The reason few people develop skills is because you have to do the boring basics until you want to kill yourself.

Drawing on top of the wood and removing the black marks is similar to masking in 3d sculpture, a handheld tool and being able to feel the material clearly gives you more control. But it is nice, the start is most fascinating how you created the silhouette and then removed layers. Direct opposite in 3d sculpture and working with clay. Drawing the front and side view looks really really enticing from workflow perspective. Being able to have everything planned from the start as opposed to going in blind and improvising. But it's no doubt more time consuming as well.
