I really hope other knife manufacturers see the deficit in multi tool style carving knifes, because I'd really enjoy an affordable option with better steels and build quality.

Was thinking about how it has been a bit since you posted and was wondering if you were doing ok. Great video as always! Think I’ll pass and just get the Flexcut one if I ever get some extra money laying around. My Flexcut Tri-Jack is my favorite whittling knives, so I’ve been tempted to get all of the flexcut pocket knives.

Electrical, the company I work for builds a specialized, high performance widget that goes into full systems commonly used by the DOD, medical, and ATC. The combination of our company teying to grow quickly but holding on to small company pracices as well as the garbage goingnon in Europe is driving me nuts.

I really wish I could try this tool out. I can't get it in the Netherlands. And getting it from overseas way to expensive. But I really like the looks of it.
@CarvingisFun2 жыл бұрын
My suggestion is don't bother, some of the cutting edges aren't even made correctly and it is uncomfortable in the hands. The oldtimer version is way better. Do ya have any interest in me sending some tools your way? I have some extra stuff laying around that you would find fun to carve with. Just let me know if you have your eyes on something and send me an email so I can get it to ya :)

Hey bro great video I had a quick question what happed to the place on eBay where you get your basswood I did buy some and loved it but now his store is just nothing have tried other wood but doesn’t compare or can’t find it in the same size
@CarvingisFun2 жыл бұрын
I think he ran out of wood or is on vacation. I've been wanting to try out exotic wood zone on ebay and revisit the carving store again while I still have some of the other wood on hand. Still looking around myself.

Hi ! How are you ? I have a question ! Do you recommend two-cherries knives for completely beginners ? I saw that you recommend others knives, but they aren't available in my country :( , and shipping its almost expensive as the knives itself haha

I've never whittled before, and I just got my first Old Timer knife today, just like the one you have, from Amazon. For some reason mine didn't come in a box or plastic, they just dropped it into an envelope and sent it out, but I'm excited to try it anyway! I may need to sharpen it though, do you have any tips on how to do that or what I should use to get an ideal sharpness? Edit: Sorry I misspoke, it did come in a little box that had the brand name and barcode all over it, I just didn't think to mention it for some reason.
@CarvingisFun2 жыл бұрын
Howdy! I'm trying to find a better way to sharpen mine and picked up these sharpening stones at the end of last year. Still haven't gotten around to trying them out but hopefully I will find time soon: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B082YGC5SL www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09643MSTZ

This is not related to the Bushmasters, but another video you made. And I cannot find it, so I am relaying my info to you. I was at my local wood supplier the other day, and pick up a couple of cutoffs. She said they were African Mahogany. I was sharpening one of my Flexcuts, and wondered how well the knife would go through the Mahogany. It cut through it great. In fact it cut through the Mahogany easier than a block of basswood I have from Beavercraft. I am liking this African Mahogany. The wood is 11”x7.5”x2”. As I said it was a cutoff, paid $1.50.
@CarvingisFun2 жыл бұрын
Howdy! African Mahogany is only twice as hard as typical American basswood (Janka hardness of 3.7kN vs 1.8kN), but there are still plenty of factors that could make one harder than the other like how they were processed, current moisture content, and quality of the lumber overall. Since Beavercraft probably sources its wood from Europe, they may be using European Lime (sometimes called basswood, but has a Janka hardness of 3.1kN) which has a hardness much closer to that of Mahogany. In short, if you enjoy using the mahogany, keep using it!

@@CarvingisFun Just learned something last night. Be prepared that when you order a strop with polishing compound, and it is 97 degrees, the compound is going to be liquid in the package, and hopefully they put it in a sealed wrapper.

It pays to RESEARCH who owns the rights to knives, axes, and ETC because the old standby the your Grandpa used to have in his pocket, ALWAYS and used to trim his nails, dig a stone out of the mules hoof with...NOT the same knife anymore! Old Timers and a few others were bought out by Asian Indians and now, they are trash, far inferior to the original. Just saying, Buyer Beware! One other thing, I am left Handed and I realize that there are only a "FEW" of us out here, nevertheless, we matter and the JACK that you were referring to, comes in a model for left or right but, you have to let them know! That's all, I enjoy your channel!
