Seriously... These noise and vibration test make zero sense unless you test with the same tires, same tire pressure and for gods sake comparable suspension. Even temperature is quite important. Not even talking about how inaccurate these apps are with incredibly cheap smartphone microphones.

I agree what you say about the smartphone but disagree about tires, suspension etc. He should test the cars as the manufacturers choose to sell them. It's like complaining about the weakness of one car's windows over another. One company might choose to sell their cars with very thin windows for weight/cost benefits, so you can't expect thinner windows to have as good sound insulation or strength in case of an accident.

+1 . Really, those smarphone apps and smartphones themselves should not be taken into serious account.Yes, it is indicative that the Skoda is louder than an Audi (or put any two other brands), but the absolute values are probably not correct for neither. Also, the surface the phone is put on, the direction and position of the mike plays a role.

Japanese vesicles are the cheapest to run, have best resale and the most reliable. Europeans cars seem luxurious but they are unreliable and parts and servicing are too expensive.

The people here..."It's still a Skoda". Well, an older gentleman would call a Aventador, still a Lamborghini. Why? Because they made tractors back in the day. People with that argument are living in the past, and have no idea about basic car knowledge.

Actually I have a 925 and honestly it is a very nice phone with a superior camera,but the OS is quite dead so yeah...good hardware with bad software doesn't work!

How are you finding the car after a year of ownership.Did you get diesel/petrol? Engine size?The 2 cars that I want to own are both Skoda's the other is the superb sportline estate which ive test driven and was so impressed being an multi Volvo owner.With current times I haven't had the chance to test drive one but as soon as dealers have reopened il book a test drive.Hope you answer and apologies for the waffle and bombardment of questions.👍🏻

@@sticksman7819 Hey, I absolutely love it, I got a diesel 2l 150bhp automatic. It is a fantastic bit of kit, haven't had a problem with it. It drives great in the snow too and actually has quite good mpg. I wouldn't swap it for for anything

I'm wondering how you can say this is Skoda's first attempt to break into the premium market when the Superb is in it's 3rd generation (Under VAG, there are much older Superb models around too). The Superb is longer than the Kodiaq and has a similar boot size too. I really want to see how this does as a 7 seater and an off-roader, since these are the only features this car can claim that existing Skoda models don't already have.

Nicolás Castillo It's just the green tint for cooling, but it's much noticeable probably because of the camera. I guess it won't be so prominent in real.

The polarizing filter on the camera lens makes it look green. It is some kind of a UV filter laminate on the windshield glass that makes it do that. Many new Volkswagen Group vehicles have one. Also some times if you have seen some weird white dots appear on cars' windshield and rear glass in car videos, it is because they have some kind of laminate that appears only through polarizing filter. Same thing happens with polarizing sun glasses.

Practicality has always been an essential ingredient of Skoda I think they just dropped the ball by not having ISOFIX on ALL passenger seat, I think it will have massive competition from Peugeot 3008 & 5008 for the looks of the cabin.

Great review! The DB check is a great addition. It would be interesting to know how the Kodiaq compares to the Tiguan and Ateca, and perhaps an illustrative best or worst in class like a CX5?

This doesn't look half bad. Quite nice actually. Too bad they took too long to bring it out (still not avalible here in Aus), and needed a SUV because had kids. Bought a BMW X1 instead - but once this releases here, might have to go check one out.

i never really understood why they compare the tiguan to this the rav4 or crv. the tiguan is so small and cramped that its closer to a qashqai. The kodiaq is impressive.

All in all great review, but the "special" app to measure the noise is more of a gimmick - It is too fast, and it depends on the phone, the road quality, the placement of the phone, so it doesn't seem like a fair test. Reliability running costs and user friendliness are things people normally look for. Also what can you do yourself to the car - like changing a light bulb battery and so on

Camera lens filter interference, it is not green when you look at it with your own eyes

It's because it has Volkswagens version of a heated windscreen. It's a laminated screen that has a very small reflective film in the middle that heats up, rather than having the small wires through the screen!

If you test noise and vibration you have to make sure you're testing both cars on the same stretch of road.
