The new Mercedes GLA get's a touch SUV look, but under the skin it's based upon the A-Class. So can the GLA compete in an already stacked class of premium small SUVs? Find out all my thoughts and more in this in-depth video review.

Sorry we forgot to explain the Easter egg in the video. It was the song the song 'The Bends' by Radiohead on my phone in the glovebox at 2.20. If you speak with a midland accent like mine and you say 'Bends' - it sounds the same as 'Benz'! Geddit? 'Baby I've got the Benz" as Thom Yorke once sang.

Quick correction folks: not every GLA is equipped with all-wheel drive as standard! The GLA 200 d is offered with a choice of front and all-wheel drive. Needless to say I'll be going to bed without my dinner tonight.

It amazes me how many models this company put out all at once. Just here in Canada on the Mercedes site there are no less than... 25 different models (each with their own options), plus two hybrids. I wonder how many engineering departments they have, to put out such production, not to mention the manufacturing facilities ?

Really cool car with a great off-road skills and enough space for even 6.3 man on the rear. One of the best 2.0 litre turbocharged engine. Thanks for review!

We really need info on reliability and how good the dealer network might treat you in the event of a problem (Mercedes score VERY low in that regard), which should be a big factor in how good the car scores as compared to its rivals. Thanks - great review otherwise ;-)

How reliable is this car? In terms of upkeep and maintenance. My 2008 XC90 has been giving me endless trouble lately, and im really considering this car, but I don't want to get stuck with another garage queen.

Thank you for this review, currently in a Toyota Tundra TRD Pro, I like off road vehicles but when it comes time for tight parking lots it is a no go for me. The TRD Pro is fun and nice while driving around but I need to be able to park as well so this little Mercedes seems to fit the bill, small, compact, and off road capable enough for me.

the rear seats fold totally flat!!! unless you camera angle was off,the 'flat' rear seats have a slope you could use a set of ski's on.

The Infinity QX30 is the Mercedes GLA sister car. The GLA is based on the CLA.

Saw one beside an first gen 308, and the 308 is taller?!?? Even tho its closer to the ground. Its very goodlooking tho, but hate the oldish interior and the androidtablet glued on. I’d rather pick a xc40.

If you're disappointed in the "compromised" Mercedes GLA, you need to be looking at the Infiniti QX30. It has a plush interior that far out-Mercedes Mercedes yet retains the sound underpinnings of Mercedes. It is essentially an upmarket Mercedes GLA. At a much more interesting price.

Some time ago I went to a MB dealership and almost got the CLA. The thing that put me off was how shit the interiors of the GLA and CLA were, especially compared to the awesome (and more expensive) C class. Sadly there is absolutely no contest between those and something like a 1-series or A3 on the inside.

It will be a modest facelift, Should be close to the updated A Class with the addition of some All Terrain cosmetics from the new E.

here in Canada, the GLA 250 AWD Sport Package fully loaded (not the AMG) is $5,000 less than the BMW X1 fully loaded, plus MB is offering 0% Financing + 3mos $600 payment, needless to say i went with the GLA instead of the X1, i love how it drives and the interior looks more luxurious compared to the X1 but this GLA is cramped inside. if only BMW had the same offers as MB, I would've gotten me an X1 instead.

Chris Marshall in the Philippines, a GLA is $20,000 cheaper than the X1. No need to say which one I went for...
