Lovely paint job, she looks like new. Now, if they could overhaul it mechanically so it could maybe run specials on the Underground - that'd be fantastic.

Not without conversion to run on LU's third and fourth rail system. They were built to run on third rail systems only - which is what the W&C was until the class 482/92 stock was introduced.

Two red lamps One was worked off battery and the other was worked off of off the Line volts.

Strange 'quirks' this unit had. Wonderful paint job. Wonder where it will run when finished?

Class 487s could be useful for IOW to help with Class 483 modernisation

It's a shame there's only one in that regard. My best bet is they'll get 1972 or 1992 stock there next.

THE WATERLOO AND CITY LINE OPENED TO TE PUBLIC ON 8 AUG 1898 WAS THE UK'S FIRST UNDERGROUND ELECTRIC LINE NOT USING LOCOMOTIVE HAULED TRAINS, WITH POWER GOING DIRECT TO MOTOR COACHES AND IT ALSO WAS THE FIRST UK 3RD RAIL UNDGROUND LINE IN THE UK, THOUGH RARE THE DC LIVE RAIL WAS IN THE CENTRE BETWEEN THE 2 RUNNING LINES, ON ALL OTHER 3RD RAIL LINES THE LIVE RAIL WAS OUTSIDE OF THE RIGHT SIDE RUNNING RAIL, BUT OUTSIDE OF THE RIGHT RUNNING LINE FROM 1940 & 1940 SOUTHERN UNITS LAST RAN ON 28 MAY 1993. FROM 28 JULY 1993 THE W AND T T REOPENED WITH NEW 3RD AND 4TH RAIL ELECTRIC UNIT TRAINS, STILL OPERATED BY BRITISH RAILWAYS, BUT FROM 1 APRIL 1994 IT WAS OPERATED BY TFL WHOSE ELECTRIC UNIT TRAINS ARE ALL 3RD AND 4TH RAIL OPERATED ONES .

This 1940 batch of cars were nothing like the 1938 TS trains, they were WORSE looking than the 1938 TS.

The overall design of these cars is far from aesthetically pleasing, considering that the Underground 1938 TS trains of the same era were aesthetically pleasing internally and externally. In fact I would go so far as to say that the original W&C Line rollingstock looked better than these 1940 batch.
