The Casa Luis Barragán was built in 1948 by Luis Barragán in a suburb of Mexico City. Today, with its ingenious room layout, poetic colour design, wild garden and surrealistic-looking terrace, it is considered one of the most important buildings in the history of architecture.

Luis Barragán, born in 1902, is known as the father of Mexican modernism and fascinates with his apparent contradictions. Cosmopolitan and introverted at the same time, he was an ascetic and a dandy, a businessman and an artist. As a long-time representative of a Spanish retro architecture, he radically changed his style after a trip to Europe. In just a few years, he succeeded in combining the traditional stylistic elements of his homeland with the formal language of European modernism - enriching the often sober functionality of European modernism with a colourful variant. The documentary from the series "Treasures of the World - Heritage of Mankind" takes you through the rooms of Casa Luis Barragán.
UNESCO has been protecting the world's most valuable natural and cultural monuments as the "Heritage of Mankind" since 1972. The television series “Treasures of the World” shows these places in impressive images.
