Durango to cascade canyon winter train. The Cascade canyon winter train - Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. The Cascade Canyon Winter Train departs daily from the Durango station and gives you a front row seat for 26 miles through some of the most impressive mountains capes of the San Juan National Forest. Follow the Animas River and see waterfalls covered in ice as you snuggle up in the heated coaches and drink hot cocoa. You will also get the opportunity to walk around once the train has stopped.

Yes. It’s from last winter! They are starting the winter train from Nov 20th this year! December through February are good time to enjoy the winter season in Durango, Colorado! Thanks my friend for watching and supporting 😊👍

Thanks my friend! First week of December should be the perfect time to board this train! The open car was almost empty as it was cold.. They allowed us to go to the open car if interested.. I went to the open car only for couple of minutes to shoot the video and take photos and came back to our coach after that! It was freezing cold at that time! I hope you will have a great time! Hello, I got the standard closed coach. It was heated coach and you can open and close the windows. The open Gondola normally wont get full in winter and they will allow you to go to the open gondola to take pictures and videos. The views are very clear from the open gondola but it will be very cold. I hope this helps and I am sure you will have a great time. Thanks for watching.

Thanks for watching. I went on the third week of January, but as long as you get snow, you can see this kind of scenes till early April. Just check weather condition. If you take the train right after couple of days of snow, you will see such kind of scenes! Good luck, you will love it.

Thank you my friends! This was really fun and adventurous ride! The train starts departing Durango at 9:30 and returns back at 2:30 including 40 minutes layover at Cascade canyon! So you need at least 6-7 hours! Thanks for watching and supporting 😊👍

Thanks for watching! Right side seat is the best one as you can see the canyon with 1000 feet drop. During winter, the open air car will be almost empty, so you can go there and enjoy the view on both the sides, it’s will be nice, but very cold 🥶 I am sure it will be a nice experience. If you are lucky or the winter starts early, you may find the snow! Irrespective of the season, the Durango train ride to Silverton/cascade canyon is always magical. I am sure you will have a great time! If you have a time, go for a road trip on San Juan scenic byway, starting from Durango to Telluride to Ouray to Silverton and back to Durango.. it’s a 237 mile loop and you will see some amazing places!
