How many matches has Rice displayed the performance levels that Casemiro has delivered so far for Man United this 3/5 of his first season at the Premier League? Anyone seen Graham Souness lately? Casemiro is a 5 time champions league winner, has 3 La Liga titles, has been named man of match on numerous occasions, is widely recognised as one of the the best defensive midfield player in the world by his peers. I've watched many Real Madrid and Brazil games live on tv over the years, and it doesnt take a trained eye to see how imperious and effective he is! Graham Souness' uninformed and silly comments are second only to Alan Hansens: 'You'll never win anything with kids', and wouldn't have been warranted even if Casemiro hadn't settled in at Man Utd and done as well as he has!

A good story I heard from Casemiro, was that in his youth, he was a Striker, a number 9. One day, he had the chance of his Life, a Test in a Club in Brazil. When he arrived there, he became Sad because there was like 200 Striker and 300 offensive players, fighting for 2 places. He was like OMG, I am not going to have a chance... But then he Saw there was Just like 10 defensive midfielders fighting for 2 more places. When the coach came anf asked him "what is your position" he Said "defensive midfielder" and is playing like that since then...

A correction: he was never in the starting line-up here in Brazil for São Paulo. He emerged as a great promise along with Lucas Moura. He even scored a goal in a derby. But the São Paulo coach at the time (Muricy Ramalho) didn't like Casemiro because he thought he was too confident (arrogant).

Eriksen has been wonderful to be honest. Each time he subs out at the 70th minute, our attack disappears for the last 20 minutes. It not just his assist that is important but his ability to pick the right forward pass. I love Eriksen, Just a shame he can't do it for 90 mins every game after his heart issues

I donno who else he proved wrong but he definitely proved me wrong...When MU signed him and Eriksen i thought 'why???' why is he joining a club thats winning nothing?? why is the club signing someone who has a heart issue?? But both of them proved me absolutely wrong..Now those two 'why??' r the absolute beast in the team...👍👍👍

FWIW, Eriksen HAD a heart issue, but it was repaired and he is no longer in danger of suffering a heart attack for the same reason that felled him two summers ago.

Fair play to you for being honest. I must admit, I never imagined Erikson would make such an impact, but glad I was wrong. Living in Spain though, I never doubted Casemiro for a moment. The best CDM on the planet. Hardly ever missed a game. Never sent off. Low key family man and a highly intelligent footballer. Above all, an absolute midfield beast for Madrid for nearly a decade.

I just disagree that Ten Hag doesn't use Fred that much, just look at the Derby, he was great, and I love that United has 3 players that makes the midfield so solid, it's scary, I'm not fond of Mctomminay, he's decent, but not at the level of these 3, but Casemiro is really the best of them all.

Mactomminay will improve by merely watching or playing alongside Casemiro. Give him time, he’s still young ang English. Would you like utd to be full of foreign players? It doesn’t bode well for the PL to be dominated by foreign players. Have patience and just support the team. Stop all the gate on individual players, it doesn’t help with their mental psyche. Put yourselves in their shoes. Be kind, be supportive, be patient. Key to success.

@@almawalker1432 McT is a Scot, he's not English. And to be blunt, the EPL is ONLY the top league in the world BECAUSE of the international players that are so common in it. Or have you already forgotten, that English football used to be known as boring 'longball' because the average skill level was so poor the best strategy was to punt the ball down field and hope your forwards could get to it first. YAWN. If you cut the allowable number of internationals by half, the EPL would cease to be the worlds most electric league. It's the best, because all these internationals bring aspects of other country's styles of play, into one big cauldron where it mixes to produce fantastic football. (FWIW, the overall level of English born players is now far superior to what they were 40 years ago, not slagging the current English skill levels, only those of the distant past, when most of the players on the pitch in the English top flight were English players and the typical English match was a slog-fest and a 3-0 game was a "blowout".)

Because there are always doubters. Some said at 30 he's past prime, too old. And many fans only really follow football as far as it covers their fave team. And if their fave team never plays in the CL, why would they know who Casemiro is, if all they pay attention to is what their team does and is involved in. Not everyone pays attention to what happens in other leagues.

IMHO, there are really 3 brains driving the United midfield, Bruno, Eriksen and Casemiro. Case is the brains behind the defense, and knits the back four to the rest of the squad. Eriksen is the brain that's always looking for outlets and is also a big part of the pivot fropm defense to attack. And Bruno is the brain that drives the attack in the final 3rd. But I do concur that Casemiro is definitely United's General, on the pitch. Seems like solid team captain material too, except for the possible language barrier.

We need to differentiate between “Football Pundits” ie, someone that is paid to express an opinion and those who quietly watch and use their own nous to figure things out. Too many so called football experts have an agenda, Carragher, Souness, Shearer, I could go on. But if your judgement is clouded by an agenda or prejudice then I always view it with something approaching scorn.

While Cas certainly has been fantastic, I think there are 4 changes at United that have made the difference. 1 - Ten Hag, obviously. His no nonsense perfectionist mentality and demands on the club, along with getting rid of premadonna's 2 - The Butcher! Martinez has brought an excitement to the defensive side, the celebrations of tackles, areal wins, and blocks have changed the mentality at the back 3 - Antony, ok, no, he's not living up to his value, but like Martinez at the back, he steps up in spite of his size. No fear, and a bit of an "I'll cut you" attitude, he brings a danger up front and last, but not least 4 - Cas! The new boss, the new Keano, the new total midfielder.

"Awaiting for" doesn't make sense. "Waiting for" or "awaiting." What exactly is a "poor lower-middle-class family?" Which is it? Poor, or lower-middle-class? Regarding São José Dos Campos: The Portuguese J is NOT pronounced the same way as the Spanish. It's a "zh" sound. The Dutch J is NOT the same as the English J. It's like an English Y. I've never heard anyone pronounce Frenkie De Jong's name the way you did. Captions: "First-team debut," not "First team-debut." Re-AL Madrid. Re-AL Betis. Stress the second syllable. It's not pronounced like the English "real." Modric should be pronounced Modrich. The 'c' at the end of all those Balkan surnames is always pronounced 'ch.' Like with the tennis player Djokovic. Erik Ten HAG, not Erik TEN Heg. Long-lasted? You mean long-lasting. Premier League, not Premier Leagues. Paul Scholes's last name is pronounced Skoles, not Sholes. Dude - it's impressive that you are as fluent as you are in English, as your accent tells me that it's not your first language. I don't want to be mean. But I don't understand why you wouldn't bother to do some basic proofreading, or research into how to pronounce some of those names. It would take just a few seconds of your time.
