The fuck? Why is everyone so harsh on her. She cheated yes, most people in marriages do, believe it or not. But she was a wonderful mother to them, for years she dedicated her whole life to her kids and husband, and one little mistake everyone turns on her. That isn't fair. She reminds me of my mum, annoying but always there for me. I think she redeemed herself completely.

Adele it was a stupid and selfish mistake, the intensity of what she did can’t be understated. She destroyed her marriage. Period. Minimizing that shows your lack of values and self control. She should be lucky if Doug fully accepts her back (only watched 2 seasons)

I don't agree with the hate she gets, Elsa is a great character, she's a great mom she gives herself completely. Growing up it's been shown her mom was terrible like Izzie's, so I can understand her. The cheating was a breaking point in her life and while I don't agree with it I understand how she got there, it wasn't magically fixed and it'll haunt her forever, she's a flawed character but she's real, good characters don't always have to be perfect people who do no wrong.

Nah I hate her. Cheating was bad enough but for me it wasn't the worst part, it's that she constantly expect and pushes doug to forgive her and assumes he wants to be around her, and acts like he's unreasonable for holding a grudge for her cheating when he never did anything to hurt her.

Hey Netflix...how bout you guys acknowledge that ELSA has ASPERGERS. Just like in real life, Aspie woman getting overlooked because of how much more obvious Sam's Autism is. Women chronically go undiagnosed because they present so differently, and the sad thing is: the vast majority of viewers will ALSO overlook her. Paige is also highly likely to be on the spectrum as well. I'm speaking as a woman in her late 30s who was officially diagnosed a few years ago, and her indicators are practically screaming. PLEASE acknowledge this and HELP people notice women on the spectrum. People dont understand that Autism doesn't look the same for everyone and have a very stereotyped perspective of it.

Am I the only one who really likes Elsa? I honestly don't get the hate the character gets. Obviously the affair was a horrible thing to do, but it seems pretty clear that it resulted from her not feeling appreciated by her family, from her own roles in the household kind of changing and no one aknowledging it, and pretty obvious communication issues in her marriage. And despite her overprotective, meddly nature, she always strucks me as someone who tries her very best for her kids, even if she is sometimes misguided.

I honestly hate Elsa, after she cheated on doug she just made her way to try and get back into the house by doing all the house work and chores when doug was still dealing with the betrayal, she is so bias and invasive of other peoples privacy and boundaries. the worst thing I think is she is constantly doubting Sam, by not believing he can go to college or travel to Antarctica, even just going to the store without headphones, she never believes sam can push himself.

I think she cheated because not only was she struggling with Sams desire to be independent, but all of her family are awful to her. You might be thinking "How was her husband awful to her?" when they were on their first date since forever, when she wanted to talk about her struggling with Sam's autism & how when he left them for 8 months it was hard on her, he immediately disregarded her feelings & threw himself a pity party. I know Sam doesn't realize he treats her badly, but Casey does, & the way she treats elsa is disgusting. I've had bad times with my mother & I would never disrespect her like that. If anything, they treat her like she's the burden. The bartender treated her like an actual human being with feelings. So i don't blame her for enjoying the feeling of being appreciated. (I don't aprove of her actions, but I understand)

Before she cheated, what had she done wrong? All she ever did was try to be a good mother & wife, while overbearing at times. & they always threw it back in her face. I never said she was the victim because she did something bad. All I said was that I understood why she was driven to that. I wouldn't defend her if she didn't apologize, If she acted like the affair was Dougs fault. She took responsibility for it & like I said, is trying to make things right with her family. She offered to end the marriage because of what she did & Doug was very upset to hear that. But he didn't discuss what happened with her for ages, so how was she suppose to know what he wanted?

I get why Casey acts like that toward elsa. The way elsa mainly has something to say about Casey, like when she wears baggy clothes that she should wear something different, or that she seems absent, like at the track meet where she broke a record but elsa missed it, and sure most of it is because of sam, but she has two kids and I get how unfair it can be for Casey. I had that same type of mother figure as elsa, and it really hurt me in the long run. She constantly was focused on my brothers and the only time she talked to me was to order me around, tell me I was wrong, or criticize me, so I get why Casey is acts like that towards elsa

I feel like Elsa have already redeemed herself in season 3. I hate how people see her as the only one wrong here! Imagine if your husband left you because you have an autistic child?? He left her carryig those heavy responsibilities that both of them should be facing! I kinda hate Doug for that and I also really hate how Elsa cheated. I think it would be better if they divorce really.

I think I´m the only one who empathize whit Elsa and thinks Doug is not as goodie two shoes, because, I mean, He can leave his family after his son was diagnosed whit autism, for eight fucking months, then come back as if nothing, and after all those years he stills feel ashamed for his sons condition and then when he is the one treated badly he plays the fucking victim all the time and blames everything on Elsa and refuse to acknowledge his own mistakes, like, talk about trash

But Doug redeemed himself. He came back and tried to rebuild that relationship. Was it wrong he left? Yeah it was but i think he made up for it by being there for the family and helping. What im confused is how are you feeling for Elsa when she cheated on him when things were fine between them? It was not like they had martial problems at the time she cheated. On top of that she was so manipulative on the show with Sam. When he wanted to try different things, she wasn’t ready for it. She would manipulate him but reminding him of the things that would scare him. She projected her own fears and insecurities on Sam when Sam was ready to grow up. Not all parents are perfect. She tried her best to be the perfect mom but she was also trash.

I got so angry when I saw the seen of her kissing nick. Also why was she acting like a child when she started going back to the house? I feel so bad for all the shit Elsa is getting in that horrible family. She went out of her way to help her autistic child while trying to maintain a healthy relationship with that rebellious daughter and no good husband. So she had short affair, big deal… Her husband left the family the moment they needed him the most. For almost a year.
