Gran Turismo's match making seems to put me against people that 10 seconds faster in the qualifiers. That does not seem fair at all.

Hey Joe - i'm typing this while actually only half way through the video, so i apologise for that. But! I will say this, the sim racing community and the YT community as a whole appreaciate the man behind the channel more than you might know. Speed and pace are great for sure, but more often than not, your viewers are there for you. So keep being you and mostly importantly enjoy being you! I think you've been very brave making this video mate. New Sub.

Hi Joe, although Rory has a good stream and is a cool guy, he's not the best to learn how to get faster and better, check out Digit Gaming or Kie25, they are actual racers in my opinion@@JoeWolfs

I respect your honesty and respect the fact that you re accepting this as a journey of your career in GT7. I alwayse loved your shorts and alwayse hit a like even when it was you driving badly. I just loved your commitment and you trying hard to get better. Its bad when people comment bad thing. But somehow you ignored those stupid comments and decided to be honest 💪. At least you re courageous enough to show your self and entertain us with your input. Keep it up buddy and enjoy what you do in your life. I wish you all the best and wish to meet you a race someday. Im a B racer and nürburg wasent my race either and i dont have enough time to practice. It made me question my ability in this game as well. But i love this game though.

Forget about how far ahead of you the race leader is. Focus only on the car in front of you and reducing the split time between you and them . If the split time is going down you're probably doing good enough. Rinse and repeat and one day it will be you leading the race. I practise using circuit experience with the demo ghost on, this lets me follow a competitive racer and learn how to optimise my driving. I often think there is no way I can shave two seconds off a lap and an hour later I have done exactly that. Learning to optimise in this way will help you race.

Keep going mate, you are definitely improving. I know it's hard but, everyone starts somewhere. We are here to cheer, laugh and cry together. In for the long run. Bear in mind some of the racers you are going against doing this for years. I like playing chess but in chess, you have to lose 1000 games before you actually start winning. Everything has a learning curve and I know for a fact that you can do it.👍

Your main issue is definitely track knowledge. You can tell by how much your lap times improve over the session. You shouldn't be driving a track for the first time during qualifying or the race. You should at least find time to do 10 laps of practice before hopping online. Even if that means you can't race that day and have to wait until tomorrow, your brain will have made the proper muscle memory and you will start off in a better place. If you were doing 2:05.0's or below all race instead of lap 4-5 and lap 8, from my short calculation (without changing lap one or in/out laps) you would have shortened your race time by 35 seconds. Of course, that doesn't take into account other drivers or your own mistakes, and it's pretty unreasonable to ask you to set the exact same lap time over and over at your current level. But if you had already done some laps beforehand, with how much you were improving throughout the race, I wouldn't be surprised if you would be able to set 2:02's. Maybe even quicker. That would cut the race time down even more! Making the time for it is always the issue, but if you can I would highly recommend at least 10 laps. I'm in a league (assetto not GT7), and I'm usually able to get up to Top 5 pace in around 20 or so laps. Try it out once and I promise you'll see a big difference.

From your race pace mate you wont be anywhere near the front of the pack as of yet but with plenty of practice and determination you can get better i had loads of tracks i didnt like but i studyed them and practiced on them with the attitude of what ever place i come is how it is you need to study the tracks to for your braking zones and apexs im not the quickest of drivers. But stick with it you will get with betterand remember dont take anything to personal when racing.

You need to do a lot more practice/qualifying laps before jumping into the race. That way you know what to expect and not be surprised to be 20sec behind the leaders. I'm an A-level driver, and if I don't make a qualifying lap in top 1000 in the world, I know I won't be competitive and I need to practice more on that combination. Another suggestion is to always sacrifice your DR, in order to keep high SR. Only in S-level lobbies can you hope for some cleaner racing.

Just practice practice practice. Watch misha, tidgney or other track guides. In this race having a tune helps but not essential. Also find a car your happy with not a car others are fast in. Having done nearly 10kmiles since November eventually stuff goes in and it becomes like muscle memory

Also, when you're learning how to get faster and better, forget all about your DR for now, it will come but not SR, SR is Safety Rating and the higher your SR is the game will place you in with cleaner racers, eventually you will see DR rise.

Come on dude, keep it up. And to the negative people, f-off! Some tips that worked for me: 1) Safety rank, you need to get it up. Avoid contact and penalties, even if it costs you some races. You can race on Races A, just run nicely. On A you will not get your Driver rating downgraded. 2) Not sure the Ferrari is the best car for beginners. It has a good but risk acceleration but not so good final speed.

your gear shifting is too late. make all the shifting and braking before corner and u will see improvement very fast. away from corner u want to accelerate. i started with auto gear shifting, that was a big improvement for me. after that i moved to manual gear shifting and i was playing around 2-3 hours before i was used to with manual. but i done all the GT7 campaigns in automatic gear shifting

Do you suck? Yes. Is that a bad thing? No. Watching the first lap at half speed, this is what I mainly saw that you need to work on: #1) LEARN YOUR BRAKING MARKERS! That first turn you were 30-50 meters past the braking point before you started slowing down. That's why you nearly careened into that Audi. That would have been 100% your fault. #2) Unless you're watching for rain or adjusting your brake bias/fuel mixture, set your HUD to the overhead proximity radar. This'll give you an idea of where people are in relation to your car so that you can keep clear of people and not be the cause of contact (2:24 when the Porsche hit your side. You moved into his path w/out regard to where he was.) Just because someone's behind you doesn't mean an accident is automatically their fault. #3) You're not using nearly enough track. The only time I saw you deliberately put your tires on the kerbs were through the chicane. Otherwise it was due to trying to move around people. In many cases, the kerbs actually help your car rotate more through a turn, meaning you can go through the turns faster. They also let you widen the track to take a gentler line, which means more speed. #4) Leave your ego at the door. That last turn onto the front straight, let's be honest, you didn't "let the porsche by," that was 100% late braking and turning in too early. He straight up passed you. I'm putting this in here because trying to stroke your ego and convince yourself that you're not part of the problem is probably the biggest killer of progression. #5) Even if you think you don't have time, it might be worth sacrificing a day to just grinding out in the qualifier only mode, just lap after lap after lap. Get to the point that you can do 10 laps in a row without a spin, crash, or penalty. Watch your replays but put yourself in the perspective of another car. Watch where you are in relation to them to help learn racecraft and etiquette. Then watch from your own perspective to try and find out why you're slow. If you can't see why you're slow, do more research on how to race. Suellio Almeida is a great resource for this kind of thing, though some of his concepts are a bit higher level. Watch his coaching videos and you'll learn a ton. I say this because I only just started doing this about a month ago and I'm barking on the door of B rating, just flipping back and forth. My consistency sucks so I need to work on that.

This is great advice. Public lobbies aren’t where you learn the game, the time trails and racing against the A.I is… the A.I drives cleaner than these C lobbies and you can reset over and over again till you get it down. I did just that played 6 months and never touched Sport. Finally started public races and got podium on 50% of my races and in 3 months was an A driver. Again great advice
