The vocal version of Casino Royale, sung by Mike Redway, was never included on the soundtracks recorded in 1967. This song was sung during the end credits of the movie.

Curious about whether or not Scotsmen wear anything under the kilt, they checked. For a laugh, one of them ties a hair-ribbon around his 'sporran'. They left, the Scotsman wakes up, feels something tied around his 'sporran.' Checks, see the ribbon tied in a bow. 'Well, laddie, Ah dinna ken where ye've been, but I'm reet proud ye won a prize!'

I just received a copy of the music score from 1967, with lyrics by Hal David. Nowhere in the song does it say the words, "Casino Royale". And the first verse after, "Have no fear Bond is here", goes "They'll never get the jewels, Bond is here, have no fear. That maybe why it was never included on the albums. Lyric's changed.

That's not all that's missing from the soundtrack album. Where's the creepy accordion music from when Mata Bond is in the spy school with Frau Hoffner and Polo (Ronnie Corbett). It starts just after Mata Bond makes the joke, "The first John I've ever gone round with". That was one of my favourite parts in the film, musically.

In reality, Redway CAN sing. He just sang off key with this song for comedic effect. Also some sources say the vocal version was recorded FIRST! But afterwards Burt Bacharach and Hal David were not happy with the final product, so Redway's vocal was removie and replaced with Herb Alpert's magnificent trumpet.

It’s not “rubbish.” They considered doing something along the lines of what you’re saying, but producer Charles K. Feldman thought if he did that, it would just be compared to EON Bond films, so he instead made the spoof to end all spy spoofs.

A great song but not a great movie. A pity as there are plenty of good actors, not least Sellers himself and the wonderful Orson Welles. This film has an impressive soundtrack, but the script is all over the place! Some of these late 60s spoofs are rather unsatisfactory - the point when the film industry was beginning to lose it's footing. Still many good films being made but not with the same clout as before. Sellers' own career perhaps reflected this decline!
@imfsresidentotaku96996 ай бұрын
It most certainly is a great movie, so it’s not “a pity.” The script being “all over the place” is part of the fun. If you’re using Casino Royale to point out how “Some of these late 60s spoofs are rather unsatisfactory - the point when the film industry was beginning to lose it’s footing,” then you picked a terrible example, because it’s most satisfactory.

I can understand why they left the vocals out. The instrumental, with Herb Albert's Horns, totally dominate. The vocal ruins the song, imo. Plus, I have sheet music and these aren't the lyrics as on the sheet music. This vocal is horrid. Glad it didn't make the final cut.

The lyrics are not horrid, nor do they ruin the song in any way. They're fun as hell and make the song all the more addicting. Not to mention, they perfectly fit the tone of the film. And the lyrics weren't completely left out. They're heard during the film's end credits, though they're not heard on the film's soundtrack.
