Yes, they are! And they’re also pretty conservative and humble in their factory data on battery life AND accuracy. Ah, the Japanese…. I really think that if they put their mind to something, they become the best at it. I know you love pens , and I do too. Pilot and platinum offer some exceptional fountain pen models that can rival mont blancs (or monte grappa for that matter) oftentimes at a much lower price. I’m a musician and when it comes to electric instruments I’m a fender guy. But I have played extensively Yamaha and Ibanez basses, and they are often better built and finished than my beloved fenders (that still maintain the immortal aura of American made instruments played by iconic musicians). Thanks for this comment!

Hahaha! Theoretically, if well kept , the materials of the a-168 will outlive both of us and our grandchildren 😂😂😂! But I prefer to see it this way: if we keep them well we’ll have a material possession charged with memories , which are way more valuable than any piece of chromed resin or steel! Thanks for this comment and have a a great one! 👍👍👍

Great video! Your watches are in great shape considering how long you've had them! I've given my Casio A158W more scratches in a month than you've given your watches in nine years!

Whoa! Time Ticker, so nice of you to watch and comment! This watch has been worn mostly by my wife. Who regularly cooks, does gardening and restores the odd piece of furniture with her watch on. There's obviously a secret agreement between her and the watch fairy to keep them watches nice. My 4 year-old G-Shock square, that I keep as "the Sunday watch", has more scratches and patina, even after I clean it, that this A-168. Thanks for this comment!!!

I agree! Despite having a slim wrist, I’m so used to wearing their watches, like g-shocks, that this one looks smaller for the first hours I wear it… A slightly bigger version, with the same proportions also in the digits, would be great! Thank you for this comment!

The A168 is my favorite watch ever made. My first one lasted me about 15 years. It was my only watch through middle school and high school. I went to replace the battery, and saw the gasket was pretty much disentigrated. Seeing that is was my only watch, it was understandable. After getting more into watches about 3 years ago, the first thing i bought was another A168.

@@jonathanmeyer1164 I just asked because resuscitating watches (and other vintage objects) is such a satisfying thing to do! You might be able to find a new o-ring and give the A-168 a good clean/ brush up, and it'll give you a lot of satisfaction, and, what's more, it'll carry memories from when you used to wear it! Thanks for answering!

I’ve pruned trees while wearing my A168. I regularly swim and dive at least 10 ft, tread water, go to water parks, work on my vehicles and it doesn’t even look like I do all that with it on. The most I had to fix was the buckle when it got bent a little while getting snagged in something. So I bent it back and ship shape.

Thanks for this testimony: these watches are just great! Casio is so conservative in its water resistance ratings. I’ve seen videos of f-91’s going several feet under water and still working great after . These watches are tough! Long live Casio! Thanks for this comment!!!

I bought a 168 a few weeks ago and kept all packaging to return it if I didn’t like it. It’s a cool little retro watch but so small even on my skinny wrist. I don’t think it’s going to get much wrist time am tempted to return before 30 days are up possibly keep for collection. I have numerous Casios. Nice little bangers 🍻 cheers

As used as I am to wearing g-shocks, I share your doubts on how the a-168 wears (I have a very skinny, 16.5cm/ 6.5” wrist). However I don’t feel the same when I’m wearing the a-159, which is just a tiny fraction of a millimeter smaller. I can’t understand why. All in all I think it’s just a question of getting used to. The Illumination on the a-168 is a joy to look at! Thanks for this comment!

11 years? What did Casio say that the battery would last would be interesting. I bought a Casio G-2900 in 2007. One reason was the "10 year Battery" print on the display. It still runs on the *same battery* today, and the light works and it is readable. I use it as my main alarmclock to wake up for years now. I have replaced the outer housing of the watch as it broke after years of heavy use, but the watch itself is still unopened since it has left the factory. (and it is the first "plastic" watch i ever had where the strap lasted longer than 2 years. It's still the same strap since 2007 too!) If it makes it 3 more years the battery would have lasted twice what Casio reckoned. And if not, i am still more than ok with it already lasting 17 instead of 10 years.

Hey! Thanks for this comment! I have a video on my (two😅) G-2900: they rock! I bought them both used: I changed bezel and strap on both and now I have two brand new g-shocks!!! @WUDN-WatchUDontNeed 2 ай бұрын
This watch has been worn a lot, mainly by my wife who, unlike me, doesn’t work in the garden or with tools. Therefore it has no scratches whatsoever. but even if you use this watch for working, or for outdoor activities and it develops scratches, it will be easy to polish them off. For small scratches Poliwatch works well, and for deeper scratches you can use various grits sandpaper, it’s very easy and results are excellent! Thank you for this comment!

Ah, the A-178, i know that guy!. Cool! As for the o-ring issue, as I wrote to Manifold… Indeed a sloppy job! And to think that he was nice to me and he told me that in the late 70s and 80s the batches of digital watches that he ordered went away like hot cakes. He also told me that the first digitals were really well made watches. In his shop the citizen eco drive, which was my first review of the channel, was bought. He’s a bit on the older side and I guess he approached that cheap Casio a bit light heartedly. Nonetheless it’s a rookie mistake he made… Thank you for commenting And have a great rest of the week!

Hey im confused between A168 amd a700 . Which one is bettery buy ? I like a700 but i dont know if it will last longer or durable than a168 .
@WUDN-WatchUDontNeed
@WUDN-WatchUDontNeed 4 ай бұрын
Hey there! I like the a-700 too: it’s very slim and elegant, the dial is a Bit less colorful, so the watch looks more of an “adult” watch. Casio rates the batterlife for the a-700 as three years; this means that it will last four or even five, if you don’t use the light and alarm much. However, If battery life is a key factor for you, but you are in for a more elegant look, You could also Consider other variants of the a-168, like the A168WEM-7. Thanks for your comment !!!
