Beautiful performance, thanks for putting this out there.. Are You happy with the GP310? Did You consider between this and other DPs of a similar price (Kawai CA79 maybe)? :)

Thank you Herbert. I am very pleased with this piano. It has a very good grand piano action designed by Bechstein with real hammers and Wooden keys. I can’t compare it to a real grand as I have never played one but I am told it is very realistic. I don’t think there is another hybrid piano in this price range. When considering this piano, I listened to many performances. Also Graham Fitch demonstrated some of its features for pianist magazine.

@@brnfrederick Thank You for the reply!! I haven't tried the GP310 or GP510, but I have played the Yamaha Avantgrand N1 and it has a beautiful action even comparable to the best piano I've ever played - a baby grand by Estonia with a Renner action. I have also played the Kawai CA99, which is considered one of the best digital pianos (if not the best under 4000 euros). I definitely appreciated it more than the competing Yamaha CLP775 (also around 4000 euros), which had a very heavy unnatural feeling action at the same price. I personally feel that the Kawai is gonna crush Yamaha in this segment and Yamaha needs to act fast to introduce some competitive edge to their CLPs. I still prefer the sound of a Yamaha to Kawai, but action-wise there is no comparison. SO... this long comment is getting to its point - my main objective was to find the nicest feeling action under 4000 euros, preferably around 3000 euros. So imagine my surprise when I learnt that there is such a thing as a Casio GP310 with an amazing hybrid action that feels much closer to the Yamaha N1X than the Kawai CA range. The only problem with this is that I cannot test-play any GP Casios in Estonia, so will have to buy based on reviews and forums :)

@@herbertmasing I would definitely recommend it. The main beautiful grand piano voices are Berlin Hamburg and Vienna. There others unnamed. I think this would be Bechstein, Steinway and Bosendorfer. and possibly Yamaha being included in the unnamed ones. Have a listen to the video underneath. The piano voices are the same on the 310 and the 510 and I think they use the sams speaker system. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/oLCXn5tikrnOl3k.html

I tried the GP 510 as well as the Kawai NV10, the CA79 and a bunch of Rolands (plus a couple Yamahas) alongside a bunch of Kawai and Steinway Grands and I have to say I was extremely impressed by the GP 510. It didn't feel quite right for a grand, but it was close enough that I could see some grands feeling exactly like that. The only digital they had that was comparable was the NV10 which was definitely a bit better (over double the price of the 510 and uses Kawai's actual Millennium III action which I have to say is my favorite grand action I've tried and I liked it much better than the Steinways and Bosendorfers I've tried), but not enormously better than the GP 510. If I was a professional musician I would definitely go for the upgrade since the millennium III action is just stunning, but since I'm saving up for a GX-2 or similar piano I think the GPs are plenty. I do have to say that the action on the NV10 felt better than the GL series Kawai grands that they had. I don't know if I'd say it was as good as the GX series, but it was definitely close. I don't know if that's just a matter of regulation or if the GLs have different actions, but there was a notable difference. I did really like the CA79 and thought it sounded wonderful (pity they didn't have the CA99), but the action definitely didn't feel like a grand. It was the best of any keyboard I've tried sub $10,000 (not including GP series of course) and I felt like had incredible control, but it just didn't feel right, particularly at the bottom end of the action. Maybe that could be fixed by adding a little padding, but for a similar price and no messing with it, the GP 310/510 seem like a great value. It's also possible that if you don't have a lot of experience on well-regulated grand pianos that the CA79 might feel better to someone than the GP510, but I found the GP 510 to feel incredible. I use VSTs a lot so sound wasn't really my main concern, so maybe look elsewhere in regards to that. I did notice on a lot of videos that the GPs had very harsh strong high treble relative to the bass and midrange of the piano. I didn't find this to be the case in person, but I do have a very sensitive touch and I only played the upper registers fairly softly. Anyways, I'm buying a GP 310 in the next week or so since the action is simply stunning and I'm mostly going to be using it as a midi controller and the $2000 jump to the GP 510 is a lot for a recent college grad who doesn't really care for most of the upgrade features of the 510.

@@triplea657aaa Hello and thank You so much for this very detailed review!!! Funny enough, just before seeing this new comment on KZfaq, I was talking to a friend who bought a GP310 in white.. after my strong and strenuous suggestions to look at this Casio model. I have played it a couple of times, but didn't have an opportunity to compare it to another piano. I have sold my 100 year old upright some 3 years ago and haven't played much since. I have been going to some shops recently and playing pianos to decide on a new DP.. so I ordered CA79, cause I LOVE light actions. The GP310 action wise doesn't feel so light to me, but it is very deep and substantial. I'm sure it blows the CA79 out of the water in action department. What I noticed on my friend's 310 was the sound - it was not on the same level as Yamaha and maybe even Kawai (I personally love Yamaha's sound most - bright and brilliant). Regardless, I still think that the action is the most important thing on a DP, cause as You said, the sound can be tinkered with in VP software etc. Also there is one particular piano sound on the GP310 that sounds really good, so that would be enough for me. In a recent visit to a piano shop, I played some lower end Yamaha baby grands and was negatively surprised - I would not even consider buying something like that over a good DP. The action was horrid. The higher end grands are of course amazing, but then again I wouldn't buy that even if I had all the dough in the world, cause my level of playing would never do it justice. So, my favorite action I've tried till now is still a Renner action on an Estonia baby grand. Second closest is the Yamaha Avangrand N1. I haven't had the chance to try Kawai hybrids. So the next in line is the GP310. Thanks again for Your reply and congrats on the 310 order. I will get that piano soon as well, as it seems the CA79 is not available in Europe anymore..
