@M_VERICK *I used to own this watch, now after discovering the gw9400 rangeman a couple years back I no longer own the 7900 but instead 2 custom gw9400 rangeman watches with carbon fiber bands. The rangeman is a much better watch.*

The screws on the bezel fell out of my GW 7900B so I replaced them with real phillips flat head screws and it makes the watch look more heavy duty and eliminated the snagging caused by the fake screws that originally come in the watch. If you do this make sure the screws are very short, otherwise they will push the bezel up causing a gap between the bezel and LCD.

I was looking for a watch for everyday use, but specifically what spurred my interest in researching the world of digital watches, was because I wanted/needed something for when I rode my motorcycle. I ordered the GW7900B after consuming a ton of info on a bunch of casio models. It’s a great watch. I’ve used it for the tide chart to check for low tide to go look for sea glass down by the local beach head , and more recently I got caught in the rain on my bike and it can take being pelted and drenched with rain water going 40-60mph on the bike. Not to mention it was night time when this happened, and just a lift of the wrist I could see the whole watch face perfectly mid ride. Super happy. Thanks for this detailed review and feature run down. I didn’t know this and the other models were in movies and on Eminem’s wrist. Super cool. I live in the north east US and do not have any issues with the atomic syncing. Every night I keep it face down (upside down) by my window. It usually syncs up for the day a little after 12am.

I just bought this watch to replace my previous G-Shock that was passed repair. Personally I have no use for the moon and tide functions and would prefer the day displayed before the month but these are my only thoughts. I work in the aviation industry where I'm constantly keeping track of the time. I bought this watch for the following features: 1) The watch is tough and can take a battering. I stopped wearing watches as they normally only lasted a few months before the strap broke or fell off. My 1st G-Shock was the first watch to last years. 2) Accurate time keeping. Seeing as the phone sets itself via radio signal each night I know its accurate to the second. More than good enough for what I need. Not having to manually set the time is a boon! 3) Solar panel and rechargeable battery; no need to worry about battery dying. I work early and late shifts and use the light on my watch constantly: holding a folder in my left hand and being able to just rotate my arm to see the time in the dark is a brilliant feature as otherwise I'd have to put my folder down to press a button to get the light on. When I forget my watch at work I feel lost. It's then when i fully appreciate how useful a tool it is for me. Forgot to say that this watch is incredibly comfortable to wear: soft is a word that pops into my mind. Much more comfortable than my last G-Shock.

Great tutorial!! I wanted the GW-7900 and bought it after I watched your video. The watch is dead on accurate. When I compare it to my Citizen AT4008-51E, both watches are exact! I suggest to anybody who wants GW-7900 to keep this video available, it is a lot better than using the tiny type instruction book provided with the watch. -You can also download the instructions from Casio. Firstly: I can't thank you enough for all the work that you put into this. I'd imagine that you have a sense of how helpful it is. Now... This watch is so well thought out in its design. I don't really know exactly why I'm so attracted to it but I bought it. I could've gotten the PRW-3500T-7CR Or the GG-1000 Or the GG-B100-1A3 I don't know... This one is just calling me. Plus... I can always dive back in and pull something else out of the water... Especially since I only paid $87.88 for this one. IMO It may be the best valued G-Shock. The nickname for the GW7900- "B" Is the Night Vision. Guess "Day Vision" works for this one....? Thanks again.

I'm really thinking about buying the black out version for the summer. I'm lucky that the next radio tower to give radio controlled watches their time is just 23km away from my home haha.

Greetings again, was just reviewing the G7900 Rescue Series, and discovered that they aren't diving scuba rated, was wondering if you know why?

Excellent video - very good explanation of the moon/tide phases and the reasons for spring/neap tides. This is my second tide/moon G shock, my last one got ripped off my arm by my surfboard leash - I'd had it for 8 years, gutted, but delighted to use my new GW7900! Cheers for the great vid WG!

Had this watch for four years now never let me down. One of the decorative face plate screws somehow came off as they unscrew out, bought 1 new replacement off Casio for maybe £2.50 to £5.

My watches get such a battering at work that it probably won't bother me. Though it is poor that the screws are known for fling out.

The mudman G9000 also has dual 1000 hour stop watches, and the low temp LCD. Also, thanks for including how to decode the batch number. I didn't realize you could use that, to figure out the date the watch was manufactured.

Wow now that's an in-depth tutorial but interesting to know all this info, so I thank you friend for for your input and time to reach us. I suggested think these watches are intricate and complicated but really once you understand the basic way of changing things is not so. My 7900 battery just run out so wondering if it's ok for me to change/replace battery or play safe and let a professional do it.i do change most of my batteries but I tried on a old G-Shock and it didn't work out well.

*_And thank you sir for also seeing the minor flaw that this & other Casios have. Particularly in the Stopwatch & Countdown Timer. I hate toggling back to the home screen to have to see the time. In my Riseman GW-9200-1, W-S220, & GW-300-2608 (my 1st Tough Solar Wave Ceptor/ Atomic piece) the time is displayed in these modes. The Riseman (my fav 💕) shows the time even in WT mode. That’s 1 integral refinement that needs to be done in said modes, in ALL models of Casios, IMO._*

When setting the time and UTC, keep this in mind: Eastern Standard Time (EST), when observing standard time (autumn/winter), are five hours behind Coordinated Universal Time (UTC−05:00). Eastern Daylight Time (EDT), when observing daylight saving time (spring/summer), are four hours behind Coordinated Universal Time (UTC−04:00). This is what gives you your proper moon and tide phase with this watch (if you're on easten time [new york, florida] that is).

I have one of these watches that I purchased on a flight to Canada in around 2010, it doesnt have a date code though. I have worn it almost every day since and it is still running strong, I had to replace the strap as it wore so thin over the years.

@@traviswalker8933 Mystery soved it has worn on the back where the code should be and you need special light to see it with a magnifier, it says 202A222J so thats roughly August 10th 2010, sorry for the confusion.
