Really got me when you mentioned that you used in the past essential oils - due to such heavy online marketing, my aunt fell for whatever doTerra pretends to deliver. I get so annoyed when I hear her say that she uses these on the skin to 'treat' certain conditions and she has even tried to get me into it (especially since I have PCOS and apparently oils can miraculously cure it). Would love a video from you on essential oils to get to better understand why so many such companies make these claims that essential oils can treat/cure numerous conditions/skin problems etc.

Oh gosh. No doterra seller I ever went through said anything about curing anything. Just maybe improving sleep. A whole bunch can surpress/minimise breast milk production, which can be helpful if you're at the end of breastfeeding. I do prefer doterra oils, because I get severe headaches from other brands, but seriously most people are fine with cheaper brands. And then you don't get that MLM/pyramid scheme guilt. Because really companies like that ruin lives.

I have ONE sunspot on my chest that I’m slowly fading with TO’s Alpha Arbutin. I started using TO’s Granactive Retinoids at night and their Ascorbyl Glucoside in the morning about six months ago, with their peel 1X a week, and I swear my menopausal skin is glowing! I’m thinning my foundation with serum to use it up, but after that I’m going to try a skin tint.

As some who has been in cosmetics and fragrances for about 30 years, I've been very lucky to have worked for some great brands and brand creators. I also know what we all pay is NOT anywhere close to what it costs to make (yes, everyone who sells things wants to make money(look at the unreal mark ups on things like couture and diamonds and well, everything)...but some who can afford it don't care, because its just "money", but when you see something that really costs $2 to make and then we are charged $245...it is eye openning. Some brands are more problematic than others, but you are spot on here and thank you for actually saying it out loud. The bottom line is always money(but that doesn't mean you can't run a good business made with good things and still give back and do the right thing...it is possible). Read your ingredient decks and do your homework on the brands you buy from and keep making honest videos (thank you!🌺)!...Though I do love that Vintners Daughter oil, and I haven't found a good dupe yet(though the bottle I saved up for lasted 2 years). I think we all just need to do more our homework and if a product says it does something, we should at minimum, expect it to work - regardless of the cost. We all know that more expensive doesn't always mean better.

Hi Cassandra! I have been watching and learning from your videos for more than one year. I wanted to say that I had my own period of 'clean products' obsession, which I am thankfully done with. The 'clean' moisturizers, which were mostly sample size gifts were always so oily and heavy and not a good match for my oily-combo acne-prone skin. Watching your videos, among other things, taught me what to look for in products. I can't use most of the products you suggest, due to availability and pricing where I live, but I have taken your 'turn and learn' to heart, and decided accordingly. I have never used retinols or retinoinds, but I wanted to share my recent experience with you and this community. I have used oral contraception for more than 5 years very regularly, and I would have the occasional pimple once a month or so, but otherwise my skin was fairly good. I stopped taking them around march and my skin exploded and there was no product I could use that would stop my breakouts. I still have the hyperpigmentation in my cheeks and chin, currently treating it with diacetyl boldine serum. I wanted to and I got pregnant, which is why retinols were not an option until the first trimester was over. After the first trimester was over, my ob-gyn prescribed me prenatal multivitamins, which among others contains vitamin A, 4000 iu (max. daily amount is 10000 iu). (Side note here to Goop misinformation: vitamin A and its derivatives are dangerous before conceiving, and during the first trimester, since it can cause a malformation caused spina bifida in babies, and sometimes even miscarriage, but it is safe after the first trimester, as proved by the fact that I was prescribed one by the doctor. Other side note, I go to a university hospital and they take no chances with their patients at all.) About 2 weeks after i started using it I stopped getting breakouts, and went back to my occasional once a month easily taken care off pimple. I have a simple routine, gentle cleanser, a serum and a good moisturizer (cerave) and they make my skin feel really good and glowy. But my own personal experience regarding breakouts was that either hormonal contraception, or vitamin A, in my case taken in oral form for other purposes, actually cleared me up. That said, I think skin care is mighty important in other aspects. I love the texture of my skin and how healthy it looks and feels thanks to the routine I currently have.

I love you!!! You’re so real and understand that all of us can not afford all the expensive skin care. I was wondering if you could do a video where you take say an expensive vitamin c and give cheaper but effective vitamin c’s that compare to each other. I would love to see that!!! ❤️🦋

I love how fired up you get about skincare. I'm the same with teeth and dental hygiene. I seriously learn so much from you. The great barrier reef is fucked from global warming and ocean acidification and pollution, not sunscreen 🤣 . I mean my government doesn't give a shit either way, but it's important to know the facts.

I was always taught by my mother that mineral oil and silicones were awful for the skin. So glad I found your channel! I did always think it was very strange that doctors prescribe medicinal creams and ointments that are based on there ingredients if they’re so bad. Now I have sensitive skin and eczema and the best creams that work on my skin are the ones with mineral oil.

It really is. I can't use sulfates in my hair for a legitimate reason, it made my hair fall out so I just don't use it (like big chunks). But that's so uncommon and idk anybody else with that issue. So it's super annoying when I hear people talk about how toxic and bad these things are, when they're actually very good for your hair and scalp. You just have to use them in moderation and not every single day. Like your hairs not dry because of sulfates, it's dry because you wash it every single day. Your hair isn't weighed down because of silicones, it's because most silicones aren't water soluble and need sulfates to remove it. Coconut derived sulfates can do it too, but these people are also against those for some reason. The curly girl community is so toxic.

Silicones and sulphites come in different levels of quality if you buy something super cheap that uses cheap silicones they build up on the hair and it’s really bad! But if you’re using high quality silicones etc that are water soluble and break down they’re fine and can be amazing to the hair! I’ve been hairdressing for over 10 years and have seen some horrible results from “natural products” as long as the quality level is there you’re fine! 💖💖💖
