Nice run with a lovely loco. I noticed that you use full deflection on the modified Walschaerts drive. I'm sure I read somewhere in the RH literature that running just above or below the stops was the best position, that's how I run mine. Just wondering what other RH loco owners do?
@Terrys-Steam-and-Cobi6 ай бұрын
Hmmmmm. Interesting Steve! Do you find you get finer control that way? I got my loco used and with no manual. My only other RH engine is my Bertie with slip eccentric. I’d run to the layout now to try what you suggest, only I used the last of my butane yesterday. A trip to Canadian Tire is in my near future!

I do the same with Billy after Steve suggested it to me.I suppose its like what you do with your Mamod mk3 reverser. I found it did make a difference.A bit smoother👍

Hehe I'm also named Steve and have a bunch of Manual RH engines. Yes cut off in full size works well. The problem is what Johnson Bar you use. I have The Train Department RH Johnson bar and it has three bolts for full reverse, neutral, and full forward. You can leave the bar in between but, it may get jerked while the loco is running. Cut off can work in small scale but not as well. I just leave mine in full forward or reverse.

Hi Terry, as a Roundhouse Engineering loco owner myself YT put me onto your video's a while back. Really enjoying your unique method of video presentation. Your money saving tips are fantastic. All my engines are radio controlled but with the Fosworks system that is now an option from the factory. I find the small lightweight transmitter a great benefit, plus you only need one transmitter for all your engines! Ever thought about getting one?
@Terrys-Steam-and-Cobi6 ай бұрын
My Mamod Boulton came with a Fosworks transmitter and I really like it. So much so I have been considering converting all my engines. However, converting everything to Kadee couplers and finishing (and paying for) scenery will come first probably. For trains something like a Fosworks controller is absolutely the way to go! And thanks for the compliment about my vids. 😊😊😊
