We have our Survivor 43 Post Season Interview with THE Cassidy Clark! Cassidy walks us through her role in the Jeanine, Noelle, and James votes, who was eating too much peanut butter and jelly in the reward challenge, and gives insight on her relationships with Owen, Jesse, and James in the game.

This was great to hear all what happened behind the scenes. Thanks Rob and Cassidy! Loved hearing Cassidy's side of her experience. She was great in the show!

I think this interview has given me some clarity as to why Cassidy didn’t win. She talks about her cast mates as pawns. “I cultivated a relationship with Gabler because I knew I could use him down the line… I mean work with him down the line” is one example. I think Cassidy failed to truly connect on a personal level with this cast, and focused more on transactional gameplay, and although it’s a big part of survivor, once your cast feels like your own progression is the only reason you’re connecting with them, they’ll be less likely to vote for you to win. They want to feel like they’re part of your win, and unfortunately they did not feel this personal connection with Cassidy because she might have forgotten to focus on that rather than just getting through votes. Having said that, as a viewer, Cassidy was phenomenal to watch and I also wish she would have won. But I can see now why this specific jury didn’t give her the win.

@@hexywesky Drea spread lies about other contestants after she was voted out and it caused alot of post game drama, essentially deep dives are now capped at 1 hour by CBS because Omar talked in his deep dive about some of the things Drea did / lied about. CBS put the ban on and shut down Ponderosa videos to try to limit post game toxic backlash.

Cassidy’s overwhelming nature aura gradually took over the bitrate of the stream. Only CBS’s 4K camera feed can handle it. Although it may be when she’s become one with the environment, the digital equipment is safe.

A big problem of hers is that at final council she didn't back up her under the radar game and tried saying she played a bigger game than she did. Gabler at least owned up to the fact that he didn't want to be seen as a threat and that he was just hiding in plain sight. It's not overly impressive, but he was at least open and honest. Overall, Gabler seemed to be much more aware of the game he played than Cassidy.

The problem is the jury came in decided that Gabler is the winner. When that’s the case there isn’t much you can do.

@@b.k.9797 How do you know they came in and decided he was the winner? The jury members said that Gabler said the right things that they wanted to hear. Cassidy didn’t make a good case for herself at all

@@tmm4195 they absolutely came in wanting him to win. You could see that they were picking her comments apart and letting him skate by with inaccuracies and vague comments. They came up with criteria that better fit his game so that they could rationalize their vote for him in more strategic language. Really, they just liked him more at the time, and came in wanting to vote for him, which is totally fine. I don’t agree with the idea that juries shouldn’t have their mind made up when they go to FTC. For one, that’s almost never actually the case to begin with. And also, if someone played an amazing game, I don’t really care if they’re not super articulate at final tribal. I don’t agree with the idea that juries can never get it “wrong” but if a different finalist is better liked than you, you have to have played significantly better to earn their vote. I think Cassidy played a better game than Gabler and that the randomness of human emotions hurt her at the end. But at the same time, it’s not like she played a dominant game to begin with. I think she might be better than Karla but It was not an impressive final 3. Once Jesse was eliminated, I was really pissed off and disappointed, and I think the jury felt the same way and decided to give it to the guy they liked more at the time.

@@megarooster99 You are making a bunch of accusations. Saying that they wanted him to win and letting him skate by with inaccuracies. There is no proof of any of that. How do you know what Gabler was saying was inaccurate? I’m sure they all know much more than we do. We only see the edited version of them being on an island for nearly a month. If they truly did come in wanting Gabler to win instead of Cassidy, then that speaks to Cassidy’s social game vs Gabler’s.

There is a strong contingent on Reddit that supports Cassidy. The jury just didn't think she did anything? The jury can get it wrong and I think they did.

@@22Steve I also feel like, from the edit we saw, *no one* did anything. Gabler's whole winning argument was "I made myself too big a target day one and so I decided to just sink into the background." Cass though said from day one she wanted to be under the radar and was intentionally playing with that strategy. Her alliance got to the end and because she was the under the radar player she outlasted the bigger players. But Gabler owned it at FTC and Cassidy kind of backtracked and said she played a different game than she did.

@@22Steve The jury cannot get it wrong. They vote based on how they feel and if majority don't feel like you deserve it, then you don't deserve it. She had a flawed game if most of the jury didn't want to vote for her.

@@paranormal17 I kind of agree with this take that nobody other than Jesse and Noelle had any distinguishable moves in the season. I disagree that Gabler owned his gameplay though as he just kept saying random analogies that didn't actually answer the question but maybe because of his social game they were eating it up regardless.

I know I’m in the vocal minority, but for characters I’m not head over heels for, I like the 1 hour format. I don’t have to hate listen to 5 hours, I can enjoy a listen and take it for what it is, and move on. That being said, I’m DOWN for calling up Stacey Powell for a 5 hour deep dive. Natalie Cole. Sandy. Kel. Jeff Wilson. Cindy Hall. Courtney Marit. Joaquin. Debbie. Reem.

definitely agree, i think a medium length of like 1.5 - 2.5 hours is appropriate but the 3+ hour deep dives are oftentimes just too much. i'd rather have more interviews from more people than having a couple really long ones.

Sugar was insufferable, just ask anyone from the season. Best to ask someone from Fang like Matty or Kenny (as the onions were all biased and bitter). I don't think anyone actually hated Cassidy personally. Bitter because she outplayed them, maybe, but they didn't hate her, and I honestly don't think it's even possible to hate this girl.
