It's your pan, but I'd advise against using a powered wire wheel. You'll quite possibly burnish the metal and de-value the piece entirely.

Kind of ironic that when he mentions collecting Wagner, they show a piece from the Wagner 1891 Original collection, which most do not even consider to truly be Wagner Ware products (they were produced post acquisition using modern, inferior techniques).

My favorite is Griswold. I bought a Field skillet to try a new pan but I don't use it. Griswold or Lodge for me!

Good to see the he uses electrolysis for cleaning. My preferred method & it works great with no damage to the CI piece.

Vinegar works great on rust, not so great on old seasoning

I'm not sure if Mr. Nance will read this, but I'm also into collecting CI. I tried looking him up on Facebook, but I'm not sure if he's on there. I have a pretty sizeable collection, and I'm not far from Georgetown. I would be interested in talking with Mr. Nance sometime. So, if you happen to see this comment get in touch with me.

If Griswold, and wagner ware is so great and cream of the crop why did they both go out of business in the 1950's ? Lodge started in 1896 it's 2021 and going strong 💪 hmmmmmm

They didn't "go out of business." They were bought, consolidated, and sold off. Large corporations are great at buying up smaller ones and then destroying them. Their names continued to be used on products by their parent companies until '99, purely because of how much recognition they had from their original, high quality products. Lodge was arguably just as good as Wagner and Griswold, at the time that they were all making cast iron. Let's not pretend their current stuff is as good as the old stuff, though. That's why they acquired Finex. To be producing proper, high quality cast iron, without current Lodge customers whining about the price point. I just hope they don't do to Finex what other companies did to Griswold and Wagner.
