Not having a reader is a big problem, especially if the scene is 6 pages with multiple people. Sometimes Casting Directors drop the ball in preparing usable sides and they give you a TV shooting script or storyboards and expect the people auditioning to figure everything out.

OMG. We need to see you and hear you. Imagination has left us. If they don't see it, they can't imagine it. Focus on your acting. That is the key!

Slate and all. I am presenting the actor as well as the role. My client needs to know not only how they handle the scene but who are they working with.

I've had requests for full body slate with audition in one file. If my phone is set up in my ring light with the correct framing, (and I don't have enough space to walk that far away from the phone camera) and I am alone, I don't know how to manage that, and I've got no way to edit clips together. Has anyone else come up with a solution to this request?

How can you do a self tape if you don't have a reader?

I basically just read my part. I hear the other part in my head. sometimes I choose to do the part that makes sense to do. but it's a big problem. looking at these casting directors you can see even THEY don't know what they want.

My daughter pre record the reader's part then edit it in, when in a crunch that has been an option for us. Sounds really good too, can't tell the reader isn't in the room. She has even called a friend to read with her on the phone (on speaker)

@@l8divaReader is person opposite you in movie dialogue. For self-tape audition Casting Director must be giving you script which is dialog between 2 persons. So if your character is A then the reader is B. Reader shouldn’t seen on your self-tape but should audible enough on the video, and don’t let reader’s voice become too louder than your voice also.

Most of the time is standard to put it together unless they have not asked you to put it seperately.

Tracy 'Twinkie' Byrd comes across as revolting. One of those difficult casting directors. And you can tell - the projects she has cast are TERRIBLE. Whole lot of talk but no substance.
