Casting the surf gutters for tailor (Catch & Clean)

2 жыл бұрынAhoy Fisho's! This week the Phantom and I spend the afternoon casting the surf gutters and it pays off BIG TIME! The plan is to chase the mighty tailor (bluefish/shad) by casting small metal lures and stickbaits into the wash created by the gutters that form along the beach. It doesn't take the Phantom long to get distracted by a few nice dart, but as the sun gets lower the tailor really start to chew, including one big greenback that crashes my lure right at my rod tip!

bluefish/tailor have always been a bucketlist fish for me, the strike and the fight seem phenomenal. Keep up the great work with the videos! Always the highlight of my weekend for the times when I cant get out and do some fishing myself

Good session mate, I always love watching you fish with your dad, he is a legend. Lucky you can fish until dark, its not something you do where I live, gets a little dangerous if you arent in a big group.

You can't beat strolling up the beach with a metal slug to catch a feed of tailor. My smoker has just been fired up for the first time this winter. First time giving the phantom tool a proper run too love it!

Hey Sammy love the videos! I'm an expat fished a ton in Canada and now coming home yearly to the Sunshine Coast for 4 - 6months starting this weekend... Plan on beach fishing what's an all-round good set up don't mind the $$ so much as quality gear (reel) and essentials. fishing anywhere from Maroochydore to Noosa but focussed on Coolum to Peregian. Any must haves?

Nice vid Sammy. Could you do a video on how to identify gutters to fish and then how you would approach it with tides and time of year etc. I’m keen to get into beach fishing but don’t think the gutters near me hold fish.
