I have ALWAYS wanted to stay at the Castle Inn & Suites in Anaheim. It's a hotel near Disneyland that looks and sounds amazing. Who WOULDN'T want to stay in a castle, am I right?
Unfortunately, I'm sad to say that the Castle Inn & Suites was a huge let down for us.
It's not a BAD hotel in the realm of hotels across the country, or possibly even in Anaheim. But when we're talking about all the AMAZING hotels near Disneyland that are out there, the Castle Inn & Suites fell far short of our expectations.
Looking for the BEST hotels near Disneyland? Check out these 13 Good Neighbor hotels within walking distance or with free shuttles to Disneyland.

We stayed here in 2017. I will say this for Castle Inn and Suites - the staff members were very accommodating. Our 14-hour flight from Sydney landed at 8am, and we knew we'd have two very tired kids by then, so we asked if we could check in early - and they said yes (plus there was no extra charge). We were there and having a much-needed nap by 10am!

I’ve been staying at this hotel since I was 2 coming to the parks and although we’ve tried a couple others around NOTHING beats this one. The walk is so convenient especially if you have little ones (I despise shuttles). Unless your trying to have a full breakfast here like other hotels, this might not be the one for you. But it’s my overall pick every year

I know a lot of people like it. Chris Provost, like you, has been going there since he was a kid and he LOVES the hotel. Personally, I find the Candy Cane across the street to be superior. We’ve definitely stayed at places that aren’t as good as Castle Inn, too. I might have just had my expectations set too high? I don’t know. I’m glad you love it though! When you find the spot that’s great for you, it’s a good feeling like coming home when you visit.

We stayed here in March and had a very positive experience. The room was clean, our shower pressure was fantastic, the beds were fine, and the parking was Free. We booked with our Magic Key discount which at that time came in less than the candy cane inn. The Castle Inn and Suites is a family run business. And they were super friendly and accommodating for us. They had ecv rentals available in their lobby. They hung on to our bags before check in and after check out. We didn’t use their pool as it was too cold. But would if it was warmer out. It was less than a ten minute walk to the park. I have stayed at all the resort properties, and when we want a mini break, we go here instead. Sure it’s not fancy; but honestly most of the hotels on Harbor side aren’t either. If your shower was running hot/cold and the walls were leaning in, why didn’t you speak to them and get a different room? I think this was a harsh critique. I prefer it when you mention the pros, cons, costs and give a statistical average. It’s not high on amenities, but as a motel, I guess I don’t expect as much? When I want amenities, I book properties that offer these. I look forward to our next stay. We will be back again and again. And also… Interesting how you plug Candy Cane when it’s not a Get Away property. And your with getaway now. Are your reviews even fair or objective?
@SoCalDisneyDad

I feel that providing our honest opinions whether the hotel is with Get Away or not is fair and objective. I plugged Candy Cane because I love it and we had a much better experience. Whether we are with Get Away or not doesn’t take away my responsibility to be fair and honest. I’m so glad to hear that you had an awesome experience and love it. I’m not trying to downplay that at all! I just wanted to share our experience. For clarification, it wasn’t the walls that were leaning, the actual balcony walkway for all rooms was seriously dipping. They know about it I’m sure. It would be hard to have cleaning personnel walk the pathway every day and not know.

@@SoCalDisneyDad I can respect that you have your favorite's. I think we all do. But I also think maybe you came into the castle with candy cane expectations, and castle never claimed to be like castle. Sort of like you decided to not like it before opening the room door? IDK, just a vibe I got watching this video. We really loved the free parking at Castle Inn, and when I priced Candy Cane, they were more expensive, so I suppose it will depend on what rates/rooms are available at the time you book. I mean, I scored rooms for $100/nt at the Anaheim Majestic Garden when they had a flash sale. And they have a free shuttle and breakfast like Candy Cane does. I used to be a travel agent and am now retired from that. But when I was booking trips I always tried to give a fair and unbiased opinions. I guess I felt your opinion was not unbiased. No they're not as nice as the Candy Cane inn, but if/when Candy Cane is more expensive and/or booked, this is a nice option. It's not fancy, but does have some nice perks. Free Wi-fi, Heated pool, hot tub and kiddo wading pool (not 2 hot tubs). On site laundry. Air conditioned rooms, Free Parking (rare to find on Harbor side), and you can see the fireworks from here. There are many restaurants along the way to the parks for a quick bite or sit down meal. Or guests can have groceries delivered and store in the room refrigerator and heat up in the microwave. My family isn't big on breakfast, so we want to get up and get out. We are gone most of the day and it's close enough to stop back in for a rest break when the park gets super crowded. This motel is a good value and worth consideration if looking for a budget location.

@@Girlgonegoofy I hear you for sure! That’s possible. I never thought of it that way. Not sure exactly what I expected, truthfully. The mask thing was minimal. The wonky floor hallway quite possibly instantly biased me. I’m not sure. As for the room itself, Best Western Park Place had very similar room conditions so it wasn’t just the room. Probably just a combination of all of those things?

I highly doubt Candy Cane is lower than Castle, it's definitely around 225 and up, probably due to modeling and the proximity. Out of the hotel/motels, castle is definitely the cheaper budget hotel of them all.

I stayed here last week, similar review. One thing I'd say is the bed was far more comfortable than the one I had at Fairfield Anaheim next to Panera (which was slightly more posh, but farther walking distance). Fairfield had a stiff bed and I woke up sore. I liked that Castle had a Magic Key discount, but for my next trip I'll take a look at Candy Cane. I didn't know that one existed until I saw this video. As far as Castle Inn, I've stayed at worse and better but was happy with my stay there.

I have been curious to know about them, since I won’t be staying at the Disneyland hotels any longer. Parking is just too ridiculously priced for me now. Definitely got to come here expecting a budget hotel, as that's what it is, it is at the lower end of the high price hotels that's closer to the entrance of DL. And sorry it's still cheaper than Candy cane, where do you see candy cane cheaper cuz I'd love to know! Also note to others, Candy cane remodeled so of course it's going to look and feel way better than one that needs it. You are right about the pathway, I was on the 4th floor last October and it definitely was sloped as well. I didn't care for the ice machine being in the first and 3rd floor. My advice is to buy toilet paper, which is pretty rough at their motel. I hear about the bed being uncomfortable and I found that it was comfortable for both my daughter and I. The water pressure though was so low. Again I went late October, even then we weren't mandated with wearing mask in the office or elevator, they don't police, they had a sign next to the elevators, it's really no big deal. So if you're looking for a closer walk, definitely love that it was a close walk, for the good price definitely go through getaway for this motel. Also in comparing with other motel and budget hotel/motel, this is one of the few that offers nice deep dressers and 2 tables with chairs and a microwave.

Awesome Traver - I have a reservation there for May - interesting and now know what to expect and considering the price compared to some other good neighbor hotels in the area close to Disneyland- get what you pay for. Coming from Australia the costs are really impacted by the exchange rate so can be difficult to chose from based on price. As we intend Spending all day in the parks and getting an instacart order first thing - hopefully we will be too tired to mind the stiff bed and will fill our fridge, lol. Thanks for the heads up😍

Ultimately, it’s just a place to sleep. You spend all your time in the parks. So I can never justify paying for the expensive hotels. @@SoCalDisneyDad we stayed at the Paradise Pier in concierge level in 2013 - cost around $500 per day back then so can’t imagine the cost today. It was ok and we did get concierge access for continental breakfast type foods (bagels, cereal etc) and access through the day but being in the parks all day until late evening precluded accessing the snacks etc so was not really a cost effective benefit to us. Enjoyed being on property however would not shell out that money again in DLR - obviously WDW is different but so many options there to choose from as opposed to DLR properties 😀

There's a number of places farther down Harbor Blvd that are newer, nicer, and still competitively priced. It's $10 each way, with tip, for an Uber. I'm already putting in 25-30,000 steps.
