Gradara is best known for its beautiful Rocca and for the love story of Paolo Malatesta and Francesca da Rimini, made immortal by the verses of Canto V of Dante's Inferno.
The interior of the Rocca houses furniture from the 15th and 16th centuries, decorated with valuable frescoes; Lucrezia Borgia's dressing room and Francesca's bedroom deserve particular attention, but above all the magnificent Renaissance works of art on display, such as the glazed terracotta altarpiece by Andrea della Robbia and the famous altarpiece by Giovanni Santi, Raphael's father.
Gradara deserves the prestigious awards of Orange Flag Country and Most Beautiful Village in Italy. It has two walls: the outermost, punctuated by towers and crenellated square turrets, provides a strong visual impact to the visitor and is still passable today.
Around the castle you can take the Lovers' Walk or the paths of the Paolo and Francesca Woods that surround the hill, from which you can admire the rural landscape of Pesaro, where cultivated fields and the typical Mediterranean vegetation mix thanks to a spectacular glimpse of the sea.
In the fabulous context of the medieval village, in addition to the Rocca and the Walkways of Ronda, you can visit other places of culture such as the Historical Museum and its cave, the Municipal Theater, the Teatro dell'Aria, ornithological park and falconry center, finally the of street art "Beyond the Walls".
