I still have the blue john ring I got bought when I visited about 20 years ago. Had a lovely walk near the derwent dam as well. Absolutely beautiful place. I must go back soon. I’m only 2 hours away.

Thanks Deborah, last time I talked to David who owned the Emporium he was trying to sell it. He was a character and a friend. I noticed it is now called ‘The Little Shop’ so I presume David retired. See him here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pcWZitd8s5aYY6M.html

Spent a lot of time in castleton at a caving club bunk house called the chapel its on the right opposite the school many drunken nights in peak hotel played rugby for hope valley some of best times I've had

I met 'Mike the ice-cream guy' when I was younger and he was surprisingly rude to me and I've been scared of him yet interested in him ever since! But after you said he could have formerly been a troglodyte (which I had to look up) it says these are people who are deliberately rude, and now it makes sense. Thanks!

I'm trying to pin point your accent, I grew up in Hackenthorpe, originally a Derbyshire village, now a suburb of Sheffield (Took over in the 60s), and I find your accent verges on Yorkshire but not quite, where exactly are you from if you don't mind me asking?

Excellent pin point! I am from a small village near Barnsley, Darfield, same village as Ian McMillan the Yorshire poet who I grew up with! I don't sound like him, but I can! I spent two years in Jamaica and 43 years in Hong Kong, so as I said great try!

I bet the 43 years in Hong Kong plays a part in your accent! I've been in Texas, USA for 3 years and whenever I'm home they comment on how my accent is changing so I imagine 43 years away would have a big effect.
