After all this time, I started up again, on my S22. And then I find this glorious ridiculousness, done a couple years after release...I'm not sure what hurts more - the shame that it took me so long to find this, the pain from watching him pass up all those items just to realize he only went in there for the percentage, or the crushing reality that I never would have thought to wipe my ass with the game so brutally as this metal bastard. Well played old bean.

You can also shortcut the acceleration of the Wolf Charge. That is: D,DF,F+[square], continue holding F and [square] to further the Wolf charge. In that way, you wont be needing large distances to accelerate Wolf Charge. This command also saves time if you are rushing.

@XXXXNanoXXXxxx It took this guy such a short time for a few reasons: 1) he knew exactly where to go 2) he backdashed all the way to those places 3) he didn't stop for pickups 4) ungodly attack power, something tells me he started the game at a very high level, he's been 1-2 hitting knights with his bare fist!, killing bosses in seconds flat (not to mention that spell he used). If he was a newb to this game w/o any of that knowledge (or that attack power) this game would've taken quite a while.

I just passed the section where you got the soul of bat. I'm not faulting you if you were trying to do the infinite wing smash because that's difficult to get down. A tip: transform while at the last bit of momentum in your backdash; during the transformation you move a hell of a long way. It's very useful for dashing off cliffs and bumpy areas, like the abandoned mine; the length of a single wing smash, combined with this extra distance lasts just long enough to get to several perfect spots.

+bestsnowboarderuknow You need the wolf soul for that trick. This is how it can be performed: the wolf jumps higher than Alucard in his normal form. The added height is what the game needs to allow you to perform a secondary jump. (you trick the game into thinking you have the "leap stone" artifact since you are at a Y+2 height instead of the normal Y+1, since the game is calculating your height and velocity at all times and this allows you to do another jump) From there on, using the second jump you are allowed, you hit the candle and that gives you the boost you need to get up there.

All the enemies that pretty much rape me he kills in under 3 seconds... Quite possibly one of the most badass speedruns I have seen in a long time.

I see it as when they did a "sequel" of Chrono Trigger. People were expecting that some intrigues would be resolved and that some original characters would come back but instead they made Chrono Cross which had almost nothing to do with Chrono Trigger beside a couple of modified songs, the Schala character that's trapped by the final boss and the original characters of Luca, Marle and Chrono that appear a couple of times while being described as dead since their reality doesn't exist anymore

@Saladinkaio I wanna correct myself on a few things, yes, his ungodly ATK did come from killing dracula w/o taking damage. 2, you can use any spell as long as you have the MP available. he did the drop kick by pressing down and jump after jumping (double jumping when you get the move). As for cancelling the fireball? not sure.

Alucard has very high spiritual vibrations, which is why he so noble, of few words, yet very strong determination, also he has grace in his movements. Many people of the past were like this. You can be like that in real life, I can help you.

You should see him equip "glasses" before the richter fight, I believe you get them by having both gold and silver rings equipped in the clock tower. Wearing those during the richter fight brings up that green orb, and killing THAT flips the caste.

You need the sun and moon ring, first one you get by beating the Succubus, the second one you get it in the spiky room in the chapel, you'll need the Spike Breaker armor, you get it in the catacombs, after going through the dark room with the Bat and the Echo ability for the bat.

You can randomly make the wolf jump very high, but I believe there has to be some kind of specific button mash in order to do it. Also if you get the Wolf's skill you can run like crazy and even kill enemies in your way.

When you have a fist type weapon equipped you can either do a diagonal kick or a down kick making you bounce off enemies heads or other objects such as candles.

@Esrhan it's a SPEED RUN. what did you expect? I gurantee you homeboy that made this video has enjoyed this game for what it's worth many times over. A speedrun is an additional challenge.

Nice speed run man. I see you skipped picking up items such as life max up and the like to skip on a few seconds for your end time for each pick up. Thats awesome that your doing this as well with no damage, shows how much you really love the game. I was curious how you were throwing out the daggers so quickly, are you using the back dash cancel method or a turbo function?

there is a glitch u can get to the reverse castle without the glasses maria give to u before richter fight, u have to run as a wolf form, run with the speed buff it have and jump from down the stairs to where the main chamber its, if u did it right the screen will be moveable

@mysshadow To recover mana, health and clean all status you just need to press UP and cancel afterwards, no need to save.

man..memories... I so love this game. I can remmember I can't even get past the first boss. you know, the flying one that spits fire and the other which the flying one carries. I think it took me like 3-4 days just to finish that goddamned boss. It took me like almost one month to finish the whole game and this guy just breezes through it. wtf lol. respect man haha

@lonman80 No, he beat dracula a certain way to get a stat boost. And if you hold down punch, you attack the way he does: which is fast and powerful.

@SuperDenizen that one spear guy is always there and an easy way to avoid him is to use a item (eg:potion) to get temporary invincibility.

What? There's two different spells. One spell summons one spirit, the other summons four. Summon Spirit. Summon Tetra Spirit. Left, Right, Up, Down, Summons one spirit. *Hold* Up, Diagonal Up/Right, Right, Diagonal, Down/Right, Down summons four.

Didn't really check the comments if you ever found that room, but you can do the heart refill trick to get into the hidden save room to get some extra percentage. Well, that .1%, but still.

Put both Shield Rod and Iron Shield in both hands and press both buttons at the same time. I THINK the Shield Rod has to be in the RIGHT hand and the shield in the LEFT.

mostly any sword that you buy from the librarian, and those that are the elemental weapons, are tricky but use their secret attack,a nd voila the guy is bitting the dust but never do a certain thing, cant remember exactly which thing, but he will turn onto the bat form and kick you out of the room.

You don't have to save to recover your health. You can just hit triangle the first time so you could skip the saving. After you save your game the first time, you have to press triangle twice since it asks if you want to make another file.

You can do a high jump as a wolf the same way you would do a super jump with the jump boots. Just press down, and then quickly press up and jump at the same time.

Shave a few seconds on your run by not saving every time you can; you don't need health and you eliminated the need to save entirely by being a total god

Well, I'm not a beginner, but I'm certainly no expert, and getting 200.6% took 14:45 with a LOT of farming for items. I didn't realize Ring of Varda only drops on Replay games and seriously killed 2500+ Paranthropus in the Regular Colosseum before I gave up. Basically what I'm saying is that 14:45 is a long time, even for a novice.

No damage? An entire RPG platformer? Max percent? SPEED RUN!? That's true love no marriage could emulate.

@SonicSynthesisSounds I would suppose it's in reference to the blood in Rondo of Blood's title, since SOTN is Rondo's direct sequel. Or it may be a more casual allusion to the whole blood theme in vampire lore generally. Since the Japanese title for CV:Bloodlines was just "Vampire Killer" it wouldn't be confusing wording to give in the Japanese opening of SOTN. Or maybe the use of the word is just a quirk of the translation.

that was one of many secret rooms SOTN had, u just had to stay 10 sec almost at this spot to teleport automatically to the room below,i had 200,7 % in my memory card when the game was released in Europe n believe me ,pretty hard to do so back then with no internet,only your mind and some magazines if u were lucky to have....one of my favorite games ever...

The other Castlevania games have more things in common with Symphony of the night than Chrono Cross had with Chrono Trigger but at least Chrono Cross was a complex game with a lot of intrigue. Not just a boring arcade-type game. I feel they haven't been able to reproduce the complex and mysterious aspects of SotN in other Castlevania games. For me the difference is like going from a good 70s or 80s movie with real actors to a bad remake from the 2000s with good looking models that can't act.

How long would it take to complete the game for a Castlevania-beginner? :) Btw, awesome video indeed. Very well done Persona! 5/5!!

It isn't that hard for a Castlevania game. But if you really want this I suggest getting Castlevania Dracula X Chronicles for the PSP. It has both a remake and the original version of Castlevania Rondo of Blood as well as a complete version of SoTN. It doesn't have the extra area from the Saturn version but you CAN play as Maria. Though the music still sounds good, the sound quality is sacrificed a little. Sorry if this sounds like a commercial :P

@Crazyperson441 Well, you could do the spells, you just had to know the combinations. Plus, you had to have enough mana for it to activate. I mean you could do the Tetra Spirit thing in the beginning, but it drained all of your mana.

The catacombs are fancy, I would love to be a lord of Dracula's castle.

no, that is not how it works. if you are close enough to an enemy, a single punch will count as two hits regardless of how you press the attack button. but you have to be right up in an enemy's face for it to work, which is followed by a certain risk

Even using the older skill-set, I’d be curious to see you do the second half since it’s a lot “busier.” Of course, you will probably just use the Shield-Rod+Alucard Shield and make short of work of everything, including Galamoth.

Well, it depends on what time of the video you are talking about. In the beginning... I am not sure how he hit so strong. But once he got the Jewel Knuckles (40-some damage), he can do a lot of damage for enemies at his level.

why saving so much?

He was actually saving so if he got hit by anything he can edit the video, load from the save, and continue as if nothing happened.

@personaworld maybe someone can not stand the idea of seeing sotn played that way, only to gain time in order to achieve one of the best speedrun of this game. the time it takes to bring up a good mana pool and the skill of the bat, after which there is simply no need to imitate Michael Jackson's Moonwalker. @mattraul789 atfer high jump in wolf form. Change back into normal midair and press down + jump button. Alucard makes a stomp jump on items and enemies that way.

all the newer castlevanias are just dumbed down versions of this with better graphics. this was a masterpiece, the sheer size and the amount of items and enemies and secrets, every enemy had a common loot drop and a rare loot drop and some of the rare loot was game breaking cough..cough..crissaegrim..cough

that spell is not flame, it's 4 spirits, search for the spells at google, and the kick I guess it's because he uses fist weapons (jump and attack probably produces a kick)

Good Speedrun man, I finish the game with 200,6 and 1 of every item in the game, but i finish the game on my psp because is a extra in the game Castlevania The Dracula X Chronicles, now i want to finish the game again but in the japanese version for the saturn, because the japanese version have more places to explore.
