I think he should've made both Belmonts more different than they are now. I don't know if he can because it could take some time and effort and would cause delay for DLC and such. He wouldn't need to change Richter but Simon he can adjust by giving him a whip upgrade mechanic where there's a meter the fills the more damage you deal. However you can only deal damage with the whip to increase it, meaning that most of his specials, throws, and 2 of their kicking moves won't fill the bar up. Simon starts with the leather variant of the vampire killer, but the max level would be either the fire whip from Simon's Quest, or the light whip from Bloodlines. Richter won't need any changes because he'll start with the 3rd stage of the whip. However Richter cannot upgrade the whip. They could also have a heart count for both Belmonts that could decrease the more they use their specials(except up-b cuz I think that doesn't use hearts in SotN). An optional change for both would be the ability to use upgraded specials(like in Bloodlines) by holding the B button when doing a special. This uses more hearts but grants more better specials. Axe and Cross could use the Bloodlines version of the upgraded sub weapons, up-b could be borrowed from SotN, and down-b could be borrowed(and more animated to make it better) from RoB. Those sub weapon changes I think should only be for Richter since he can't upgrade the whip. Again I don't know if Sakurai can do all that, but if this were to be shown he can choose do do it or not.

Richter may as well just be a costume for Simon, same as Daisy is basically Peach. It's disheartening for sure. Off-topic - have you played "The Wonderful 101" ? I know - very out-of-nowhere question. I would've killed for Wonder Red being introduced into Smash. At least just so that people wonder about who he is and could bolster the sales of "The Wonderful 101 Remastered". I can't stand the idea that that *AMAZING* game is as unknown as it is... Hurts my brain over how little sense that makes. Better him then another FUCKING Fire Emblem character nobody gives a shit about, that's for sure...

This dude plays with the same finesse I did back when I was fresh off of playing Order of Eclessia's boss rush mode for the 30th time, though, I wish I devoted that time to putting respect on Richter Belmont's legacy now.

Since he already did at the end of Rondo of Blood, start of this game, and this is Alucard's game, it's understandable. Richter beating Shaft there while not fighting Dracula also means that you successfully prevented his resurrection for only a couple of years.

Considering how fast Alucard can kill him Richter just needs to smack Giant Crosses in his face
