Can you make soap with only castor oil? Of course! Is it any good? Well, you'll have to watch to find out.
This soap may work for someone with ultra sensitive skin. To improve the recipe I'd try less superfat, maybe even 0%, and cut it with extra virgin olive oil. Maybe 80% castor, 20% evoo.
What is the purpose to all of this? There is no purpose to anything, as much as there is purpose to everything. Did I write that, or was it AI? Do I even exist? I'm part of YOUR simulation, baby.

Are foamy bubbles really that necessary to make the soap antibacterial? I like the idea of using in the winter, when the heat in your house is so drying.

I was thinking the same thing, with this soap it just doesn't lather, which I find makes it hard to use. Maybe a slight cut with another oil would help the lather.

Exactly what I was thinking! Where did all the bubbles go?
@KtP370

@@WorkingWeston It's meant to create a stable lather, so it doesn't bubble so much as it helps stabilize bubbles, it was originally used in shave soaps so the dense lather would last longer and to add more slip to the shave. Just some unsolicited info lol.

I wish I could learn to make a unique soap that I could only find at Thayer's - it was a witch hazel soap with rose petal - smelled great and left the scent on your skin which was left soft! I loved it but they're not making it anymore. Does anyone know how to add witch hazel to a soap? It looked like a glycerin soap but looked creamy like it was made with goats milk.
@KtP370

You can use pure witch hazel, by that I mean without alcohol and add it as a percentage of your total batch. I've also see it added by tablespoon but a percent seems like a better idea, and then probably add it to your oils. I have some witch hazel I've thought about using in cold process.

@@KtP370 "Pure" witch hazel? I thought it was just a tincture, made with alcohol. You can buy it without alcohol? I guess I'm questioning how witch hazel is made without using alcohol. I hope that made sense.

@@KtP370 Okay, so I googled and found this - "You can create a water-based extraction or an alcohol-based tincture. Some methods, like Thayers Natural Remedies' maceration process, use cold-soaking with aloe and glycerin to preserve the plant's tannins and avoid heat and alcohol. After macerating, you can filter the mixture through a fine mesh to remove debris." So I'm guessing because Thayers is/was a water-based extraction, that is why it was not drying out my skin. I made the mistake of assuming it was only alcohol that could extract the goodies from the plant.

@@KtP370 Goodness, I'm wrong again. Upon further research they're distilling the herb. So basically witch hazel is a flower water. Very interesting! LOL Now I'm wondering if there's a witch hazel essential oil?

@@danawaldrop4930 bulk apothecary sells alcohol free witch hazel, if it helps lol, I think it has a 3yr shelf life without the alcohol which is nice but I could be wrong on that.

Must be good for hair, you know the castor oil. I would mix it with other oils, 60/20/20%, and still let castor oil be larger component.
