Waking up at 8am and an 8 year old. Opening the curtains to a blue sky and shining sun and being so thankful. Especially with this playing on the radio. Then out to the park to play footy with the lads. Followed by gaming in someone's house. We never knew we were living the best days of our life

Reminds me of a happier time. Back in the late 90s, life was worry free. Music was better in those days too. There were no dumb reality TV singing contents for manufactured artists. Miss the days when every song on Top of the pops was actually bearable.

cmon mate. this song is fucking awful. worry free it may have been, but the mid 90s in britain produced a disturbingly large amount of truly terrible bands. defend oasis all you want, but there is really no defense available for cast

Glimpse of a forgotten dream.. There is often, perhaps always, a sense that John Power is singing about The La's, about its pure beauty but also perhaps its (relative) stagnation in terms of what he was allowed to do in it.

Woke up with this song in my head randomly. Rising Star ? Northern Star ? couldn't remember. Even thought it was The Las, I was close. Found it now ! Great talent which we need back in the mainstream again in 2023.

Every song in UK charts pretty good back in 1997 with Brit Pop. Music landscape totally different with groups & artistes in control of their own output. Today it is very much media lead music seems homogenised and synthetic with keyboards fed through mixer to get high pitched sound.

ian mcgregor hart You Have just hit the nail right on the bloody head, they’ve gone back to 80’s sound, without the talent or melodies.

John Power is a belting bloke and a belting songwriter. But, and there must be, what the fuck happened to Lee Mavers? I saw The La's (finally) at Glastonbury '05 and I thought it might trigger that mystical second album.
