Yea, I'm gonna go ahead and release episodes 12 & 13 next week. Likely including some portion of the "born again" minisode as well. Watching this afternoon! Can't wait to watch and share it with you!

Honestly, doing two eps a week (if possible), would move things that much quicker. It's a looong tv show. Much to enjoy, and I'm worried that by the time you catch up with more current seasons, it will not be on as relevant or on air anymore (worst possible scenario).

@@Jaqueese 1990 was an absolutely horrible year, when word finally came down that Doctor Who was over. Then we had some false hope in 1996... then it was gone again. Then it came back in 2005, as Chris is now seeing, and - despite a few hiccups, despite the fact the show was ALMOST "rested"... it's now back on our screens, and being expanded back into a multiverse. Doctor Who is not going to disappear any time soon.

@@pvksl I can’t promise to do two a week, but once I finish Battlestar Galactica the Tuesday slot will likely be given to Torchwood and Sarah Jane or whatever is needed to watch correctly until we get through the Doctor’s sixth series. So it’ll kind of be like double Who 😅

Doctor Who blends absurdity and comedy with heart so masterfully. Terry Pratchett said that comedy needs tragic relief, and Doctor Who is very good at that. It’s a big part of what makes it so special.

@@CasualNerdReactions Of course, this blending of comedy, drama, tragedy, melodrama, etc. is not new. Buffy, a show Davies used as a template for the new Who did it, the studio era in Hollywood did it in screwball comedy and even noir, French new wave did it, Hitchcock did it, the ancient Greeks did it, and Shakespeare did it. Whedon, of course, is a devotee of the Bard and a student of film.

@@UserName-vb4lg Let's be accurate, Whedon has been accused by SOME of being one of those mean girls. Others have said nothing about the alleged behaviours. Still others have done the knee jerk I didn't see any of it but. And that, of course, is the mantra for this politically and ideologically correct age. Whedon himself has fessed up to SOME of these behaviours, something that can't said about other human sinners. By the way, these alleged claims do not sully the TV shows Whedon has made anymore than Tolstoy's peccadillos makes Anna Karenina inherently evil. But them, my perception here is coloured by the fact that I am a realist, an observer, and not asome manichean who turns some into saints and then whinges and whines when they learn that humans, all humans, can never be saints . Personally, I find the naive fanboy and fangirl creation of secular saints farcical and absurd given how humons have behaved over the years. Finally, as someone who recognises that humans in general, and particularly perfectionist humons are less than perfect, I prefer not to throw stones at other glass houses because I realise the fact that humans, particularly self-righteous humans, generally live in glass houses too. By the way, Russell T. Davies (show runner of the new Who and creator of Queer as Folk and It's a Sin) has been accused of abusive behaviour. But then he was and is responsble, as was Whedon and Hitchcock, to get the show done on time and in budget. That can be difficult when dealing with cliqueish behaviour and I suspect that the set of Buffy, like every other instution and organisation in Western society, is like a public high school.

The restaurant scene in this episode is a masterpiece. The initial comedy with the poison etc. quickly turns (and you barely notice the turn) into a superbly focussed moral sparring match, with masterclass performances from Eccleston and Badland. Fantastic!

Annette Badland who plays Blon/Margaret is such a good actor. Can literally be twinkly and then like ice and then murderous. Really an acting masterclass. And as the character says to Doctor runs without looking back but this time having to deal with consequences. Enjoy the next three. I think you will.

Oh she is SO good in the role. I think with a lesser performance this episode would have fallen flat for me, but she brought so much it was really engaging. I absolutely leaves the next two that I watched yesterday. So excited to share it next week!

@@CasualNerdReactions apparently the expectation was all the Slitheen were to die in Aliens of London and WW3 but Russell saw Annette, particularly with that bit at the door into the Cabinet Office and wanted her back, so she got her own episode.

Bad Wolf is the production company that makes Doctor Who now, but it's the Studio that was named after this, not the other way around since Bad Wolf Studios was founded in 2015, 10 years after this aired.

"you're begging for mercy through the lips of a dead woman" is one of the best lines from this show and will forever be. Margareth letting the woman live and all the insinuating that shes becoming more snd more human the more she stays on earth (kinda like the doctor) is amazing I really think people dont get the Rose/Mickey relationship how it should be taken. Mickey is not the best person at all (his character is growing, tho) and certainly not the best boyfriend. The fandom blame Rose but look past the fact in this precise episode Mickey just tried to sleep with Rose while having a girlfriend, disrespecting both of them. He is also 5 years older than her, which means he should also be more mature and perfectly capable of ending things if he felt disrespected. Rose and Mickey are not good to each other at all, but he certainly is not the victim. He expects her to settle for him but when she was with him, he didnt really care, literally went watch football after she almost died because they took each other for granted. And now she's living this intergalactic life, while he's feeling left behind, but this is something he needs to work on. The fandom gets mad about Rose treating rheir relationship like it always was: on-off, not very important to any of them until they're afraid of losing their "safezone". To be hobest, even as a child i wanted them to have split from episode 5, but i guess them being on this on-off is important to their character arcs. Totally my comfort episode. I love Ninth + Rose + Jack combo and how happy they're together. I miss series one so much omg. Also, i really love your reacts, i already told you that a million times and will tell you another one anajshshs "Perhaps the doctor....?" *Doctor: [not my problem]* "...Kay"

The actual landing as a police box and getting stuck actually did happen in the very first Classic Who story. For all of the first part it is disguised as a police box on a junkyard in 1963, a rather a appropriate disguise for the time and location, then in the second part when they travel to another time and get out to see it's not a police box the doctor is surprised and concerned by it not changing. Speaking of things in thos episode talking about things that have early origins in the show. The Tardis being alive was first explored back in the very first season in the 3rd story, strange things are happening inside the Tardis and they gradually discover that the Tardis is trying to warn them any way it can that there's a fault and they're heading to disaster.

I miss the Master having his own TARDIS with working chameleon circuit. Oh, also "Chameleon Circuit" is the name of a tribute music group formed by early-KZfaq star Charlieissocoollike. A lot of their songs are very catchy, but shouldn't be listened to without knowing when a song was released and what episodes should have been watched by then... spoiler risk exists!

A. Congratulations, you have become my favorite YT reactor, yay. B. The dinner scene is one of my favorites. I recently read a book about WW2, where 3 Nazi soldiers found a Jewish man in the woods, and eventually let him go. Then of course they returned to their base and killed others, but they felt ok with themselves, because "they let one go". All I could think of reading it was this scene. You keep on living with yourself because every once in a while "you let one go". Damn.

I would normally think we’ll never know… but after watching the finale I know to never say never with doctor who. Anything could come back at any time.

I love love Cardiff because of this show. I’m so glad they don’t even try and pretend it’s somewhere else it’s just legit Cardiff, with the Pier, and the millennium centre, and restaurants it’s so cool visiting and being in a real life Doctor who set basically.

I think it was done to save money. Shooting on location needs less set building. IIRC Doctor Who was filmed in Cardiff.

The inside of the TARDIS is in a different dimension than the outside. The TARDIS is in this sense a door from one to the other.

Well, we still haven’t learned his backstory and why he was ousted as a time agent. Nor do I know that organization so I’m not sure what to make of him 😅

I really liked Christopher Eccleston as The Doctor. But my heart is with the Tenth & Eleventh Doctors. There is some mighty breathtaking and heartbreaking episodes to come. Donna, Jack, River, Amy, Rory and a host of others made the next few seasons permanently jangle in my psyche just as much as Battlestar Galactica did (though for completely different reasons!).

Doctor Who will always be my favorite sci-fi series. A close second is Seth MacFarlane’s The Orville. 3 short seasons streaming on Disney+.

If you like Jack Harkness, you should watch his spin-off series Tourchwood, it lasted for 4 seasons and co-exists within the Doctor Who lore

The episode is called Boom Town because of the earthquake, and because Cardiff was booming at the time (and has a lot more since because of Doctor Who).

At the time I was so disappointed to see another Slitheen episode but now I actually really like this episode a lot: some lovely character stuff for most of the main characters here.

I can list the 158 episodes of Classic Doctor Who from memory, and probably only miss 2 or 3. But I get pretty iffy with the new era. Generally though, I could recall about every episode... This one however, I easily forget. I am glad however to have watched this with you, Chris, as it's reminded me of something that I had forgotten. Actually 2 somethings. So, I'm glad. :)

Between season 1 and season 2, there is a short "Children in Need" episode called "Born Again" that takes place between the two episodes. Please, do NOT skip this, but include it in watching Season 2, Episode 1.

There's only three episodes this season I don't care for: The pilot episode "Rose," and the Slitheen two-parter. When Margaret first appears on screen, I expected to dislike this episode too. Pleasantly surprised to find out this was a great episode! And bonus, they only did the fart gag once!

Rose treated Mickey awfully. She was flirting with jack. She was ready to date Adam. But Mickey should wait for her? Lots to like about Rose but she didn’t treat Mickey well. This episode was a surprise. Some heavy questions and great acting. “A slow nuanced dance” well put!

But that's the thing, isn't it? She is a flawed person. But do keep in mind that they had been broken up by that time. Still, he kind of represents her way back home and I think she wasn't ready to give that up quite yet.

They treat each other badly and I never understood why people get so mad about this but not about mickey trying to sleep with rose while having a girlfriend. He disrespects both of them, also, he is a man in his mid twenties, he's perfectly capable of ending things as well as her.

Nah, it was fine that Mickey moved on. What WASN'T fine was that while he had moved on to a new relationship, he still propositioned Rose for sex and then blamed her when he decided AFTER that to tell her "Oh yeah, I've got a new girlfriend" and she got mad about him propositioning her. That was wrong.

Yeah we definitely don't see all their adventures. For all we know The Doctor, Rose and Jack could've had 20 adventures in between 'The Doctor Dances' and this episode.

I dont think this is a strong episode but the restaurant scene was amazing and so well done. And i liked that Mickey called out Rose. I like Rose but her treatment of Mickey has been pretty shitty.

Oh, Mickey. Going out with someone else is fine, but if you've got a new girlfriend, you don't try to proposition your ex-girlfriend for sex and then get mad at HER about it.
