Our beloved Norwegian Forest Cat had Polycystic Kidney Disease. We were devastated when we discovered a lump and the vet told us her condition and prognosis. My whole family, especially my poor kiddos were very, very sad. They gave her about a year. But, she lasted 4 years, with a prescription diet of canned Kidney specialized food and lots of love and an incredibly strong will to live... RIP Evie.

Thank you for this advice. We have a black cat named Banshee. She is 19 years old and has CKD. She is very good for her age and is on medication for blood pressure which is working well. She has actually gained weight. She is well looked after and gets regular vet checks and I hope that she will be around for some time yet.

I agree with everything that was said in this video. We lost a cat to CKD several years ago. By the time that he was diagnosed with this disease, it was pretty much advanced by then, and there wasn't much that we could do. With our current cats, we make sure they get checked out regularly and kept indoors. Great advice and great video! Thanks!😻🐈‍⬛❤️

I lost my cat two weeks ago to acute kidney failure. She was normal until noon, when she vomited and collapsed. I had no idea she was sick. There are no plants or chemicals in the house that she could have ingested. She was a senior stray when we adopted her and had no interest in going outdoors. I suspect that she was an expert at hiding her symptoms because of the time she spent as a stray. Those blood tests are so important. If your vet doesn't do them, ask for them. Also, this is the first time I've seen such a relevant product for a video. Definitely ordering some when I get a new senior sweetheart. And I'll come back here to do the click thing. ❤ Thank you.

Hi🙂 This video reminds me of my old cat, Zucca ( pumpkin in italian ) had problems with her kidney and died soon after at the age of 19. I miss her, but now I have adorable kittens, Dusk and Sassy. I love cats, dogs, and any animal you give me. I ❤your channel!

I lost my cat to kidney disease 6 mo ago. He had been taken to the Vet thru the yrs & that vet never caught it. I knew something was not right. He was a puker & drank a lot of water & also lost weight. I got him on Amoxicillin & that worked. He gained weight & was good for a couple of years. Went thru this every 2 or 3 yrs then finally at age 12 yrs he died. I took him to a new vet in Tx where I moved & they said he had advanced kidney failure. Too late to do anything. He died at home. He was a stray & I got him as a tiny kitten. He had a good life. I only wish he had lived longer. The original Vet should have caught the kidney problems! I think they were very lax.

My cat has CKD, and it truly is heartbreaking. I have a great vet though, and they showed me how to do sub-q fluids and also supplements to help. He's around 18 years old or so, and in the past few years he's drastically lost weight and muscle. I do what I can for him, he's my buddy and I want to make sure he's in as little pain as possible. Thank you for the link as well! This is a great product, it alerts me when I should bring my cat in for an extra check-up for a medication adjustment for his CKD.

I think one thing that isn't discussed when it comes to kidney disease and cat is feeding them Kibble. Kibble is extremely salty and completely dehydrated. Feeding your cat exclusively Kibble is putting them in a permanent state of dehydration, thus putting immense stress on the kidneys and this is done over years and years of their lifetime. Three of our four cats… The ones that don't have kidney disease… Are all fed raw. Two of them have been fed raw since they were four and six respectively. The third one raw feed has been fed raw since he was 12 weeks old. The one who was raw fed since she was six is 13 and people think she is only eight without a sign of kidney disease. Feeding them raw meat and raw bones is essentially mimicking the diet that God designed them to eat. If Kibble was so good for cats, then God would have designed and made Kibble for them to eat but he didn't. He designed them to eat rats and mice and birds… In other words raw meat. Of course raw meat has a high moisture content. Meaning that they are getting a lot of moisture from their food and not kept in a constant state of dehydration. This is the best option for feeding cats as far as I'm concerned… Feeding them what they are designed to eat. Our fourth cat has kidney disease. She was fed Kibble right up until she was about 11. By then it was too late to reverse the damage that had already been done. And she has now got kidney disease. She is only two years older than my 13-year-old, but yet she has aged so much more than her. I would say though, if for whatever reason you can't feed raw, please please please, feed them a good quality canned food. At least canned food is moist and is not dehydrated. Because the reality is you can't rehydrate biscuits to the point where they contain a natural amount of water content. They are too dehydrated. So if you can't feed raw, then feeding a good quality canned is the best option. I'm not saying this is the only cause of kidney disease. But feeding them food with a natural moisture content, and at best feeding them what they are designed to eat, is definitely going to minimise the chance of them developing kidney disease in the first place.

My cat had steroid shots for ulcers. She was getting so many shots the vet warned me that her life would be cut short due to Kidney Disease. Then the vet read about Omega-3 Fatty Acids helping ulcers. The number of steroids shots were reduced drastically. My cat did get Kidney Disease but much later than predicted. She is 17 and a half and has level 2 Kidney Disease. Thanks for the video!

Imagine to have a 15 years old lovly cat and with unger personality and aggrassive has ckd and god knows what else too, and all that started with her teeth. Drs did surgery to remove half of them and left the others and we don't know if the remain teeth have decay roots or not , after that the CKD showed up , please tell me how to examine her and do Periodic tests? Even if we want to do Kidney dialysis or replacement it will be very difficult to do it
