I was issued the MOLLE II pack when I arrived from SOI at Camp Lejeune in 1/2002. While training at School of Infantry, we used the camo ALICE packs. Those were much better than the new MOLLE packs that we were just issued. The MOLLE packs were larger and had more straps. The plastic frame was something everyone hated. The amount of weight we carried as infantry Marines would often cause those frames to break. We used to wish that our battalion would switch back to the ALICE packs. I own three surplus ALICE packs and use them for camping and hiking still.

Nice video. You can buy a down east frame 1606 for the Alice pack. It is made for the alice pack. It is a better frame for the alice.

I modified my alice pack to fit on my molle frame. Prefer the alice pack over molle pack. Those 2 rings are for fastext buckles for attaching your assualt pack. They also can be placed on frame for the same purpose.

The ALICE pack fits Very well on the molle frame. I have done it to my Medium ALICE pack. There are hellcat mod video's on how to upgrade to the ALICE-molle frame. You will love the upgrade.

I always thought that the two rings on the back of the MOLLE pack were for some form of removable shoulder straps like the ALICE pack had. I’m probably going to put up a video showcasing my MOLLE ruck and the modifications I’ve made. The one in this video is incomplete, it doesn’t have the sleep system pack on the bottom.

I put the molle 2 shoulder straps and waist belt on Alice pack. Wanna talk about a comfortable and perfect pack

If that MOLLE Gen 1 pack had the ALICE sleeve to accept a frame, it would be sitting on my 1606 frame right now. I like that MOLLE ruck. But I made a Devil Cat out of my ALICE and used the shoulder straps waist belt and MSS carrier on the 1606. HUGE improvement for the ALICE. I thought of having the MOLLE main ruck modded with that frame sleeve and having more PAL's webbing added to its sides. Don't know if I will do it or if its worth the expenditure. Like your videos brother. "Semper Fi!"

thanks! stay tuned. i got a tactical tailor malice sitting on the back of the truck right now getting dyed. video coming. sadly, i cant find a 1606 around here.

@@renaissancemarinetv3536I had to order mine from DEI out of Maine, it got here ahead of schedule. It ran me roughly $40 bucks. Worth it to me. I will get you the address later on. I got the 1606 MC frame, its stronger then their 1606 AC frame. I"am looking forward to your MALICE video. Thinking of getting a newer large ALICE ruck possibly a Fire Force Tactical, it has the pals webbing already sown into it.

If look around there 1 or 2 video on. M 2 on a alice frame. I'm Try fix my alice frame. .mod it to drop the. Side piece. Add more 1/2tubeing like the pvc frames. Use a 8x4 2 barking pan as a lower deck. Fold up not in use. Fixing my cross spar crack in two

no, they are on the back of the pack, against the frame.

How well does the Rifleman pack carry ? Is it comfortable with a decent load ?

oh, more than! it has the exact same shoulder, waist and frame components as the much larger molle II. but it weighs alot empty. so, trade off.

I am going back and forth between the Rifleman or the ACU large pack, having a hard time choosing.

my two cents is lay out your gear...what you need. then see if it fits in the smaller pack. if not go to the larger. my experience is if we get a bigger pack we will naturally find more stuff to carry.

Oh yeah! I got 70 pounds in my pack and it still rides like a dream.
