@Chris M Yea, there are stray cats out there, but some of them might actually want to be strays, and could probably find a "human home" if they wanted to. Usually all they've got to do is go to a house they like and stand at the back door for a few days. This happened to me, twice, when I had no intentions of getting adopted by a cat. And now I have 2. The permanent strays usually keep a bit of a distance from humans, and just wander up every now and again for a bit of food.

How my uncle got his cat lol! The cat just kept following him into his house until my uncle and his family said “ok guess we got a cat.”

Then a few months later a third cat arrived at the door and I thought _"Oh no, not again!"_ but luckily he buggered off after a few minutes. It's pretty strange how certain cats choose certain people/houses. My cats are absolutely terrified of other humans, and one of them literally won't move further than a few feet outside the front door; I have no idea how she made her way to my house. I looked a lot for her original owner but could never find who she belonged to. It's like they just materialise out of thin air..

Cats have very highly tuned nervous systems, which makes their senses accurate and their balance impeccable but I've always had an unusual feeling that animals, and humans, with highly tuned nerves can sense strong emotions in others, they feel it like an atmospheric pressure irradiating from another living thing

Another moral of story: animals are kinder and more tolerant of each. Many ‘humans’ seem to lack kindness and tolerance.... as well as empathy, common sense and compassion.

Animals also kill for sport. Bear likely wants and enjoys the company...even from another species.

Are you trying to say humans eat or kill other humans if they don’t have enough to eat? There have been great famines and starvations through the course of the past 200 years, and humanity did not simply kill/eat their own kind. We have more than enough to eat at present, and I’d dare to argue that we most certainly are not getting along... at least in the West.

The Domestic cat does have the highest kill rate of any predator. It's hypothesized that as they do not have to hunt to live, it's because they only go after the easy prey.

Yes, the domestic cats may be hunting for entertainment but that would not be a reason for going after easy prey, it may be a reason for being well practiced at hunting and that may contribute to domestic cats having the highest kill rate but would not necessarily be the cause of going after the easy prey.

Dogs and bears are somewhat closely related. Bears are omnivores so I'm sure the zoo employees make sure the bear's diet is properly balanced.

I highly doubt it's the bear's main food source. They probably scatter dog food around the enclosure for the bear to find as a little treat. Keeps their foraging instincts sharp and gives them something to engage in as well.

Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary is a SANCTUARY. None of these animals were taken by Folsom City out of the wild for the purpose of entertainment and profit. All their animals are rescued from unfortunate situations that prevent them from being returned to the wild. They are very well taken care of.

Nowhere does it say that the zoo has had the bear for its whole life. One possibility is that he was rescued from a bad situation...roadside attraction etc. Performing bears frequently have all their teeth removed as a safety precaution ( wrong to do, and it does happen). If you freeze the video at :48 it's clear that Sequoia has no teeth. Dog food is just a treat to keep him busy, I'm sure he gets an appropriate diet.

There are several videos where zoo tigers ate birds that landed in their enclosures. I assume those tigers were well fed too.

That's like saying a cat or dog are in prison if they are house only pets. These animals were rescued and live with plenty of room to roam and play. They are fed well and receive excellent medical care. Chances are they will survive longer than out in the wild where they are hunted.

My all-time favourite was the story of an orphaned baby hippo who lost his mother during the tsunami in Indian Ocean in 2004. When he was rescued he was given a temporary home in a zoo in Kenya but the only place they had to put him was an enclosure with a very old giant tortoise. Although the tortoise wanted nothing to do with him at first and would hiss at him every time he came near, the baby hippo seemed to desperately want another animal to be physically close to so it was like he decided to "adopt" the tortoise as his new "mom", and just wouldn't take no for an answer. The tortoise eventually accepted his presence and allowed him to follow him around and sleep right next to him, and even nuzzle his head when he poked it out of his shell.
