Thanks for this great tutorial! I was looking for something that would work with olive suckers I've been pruning in Greece which are quite stubborn to work with. I made two and they are v decorative! For the second one I left the leaves on the bits sticking out, which makes a nice textural contrast with the weave. Also if you happen to run a fancy French restaurant you can use them to serve the cheeses on. Guaranteed Michelin star! 😄

Haha I love all of the uses for these! I’ve never worked with olive suckers before, sounds beautiful! This is such a simple weave that doesn’t stress the material at all really you can do it with so much! Have you dried what you’re working with first and then re-soaked or just used fresh? I’m curious as I found with this tray that was made mostly of hazel the sticks haven’t really got that much thinner as they have dried, which maybe means if the material you’re working with isn’t very flexible it could be a sign that it won’t shrink? 🤔 Thank you for your comments, really glad to see the videos have helped!! 👍
