“I liked it as soon as I got on it. I like the looks of it. I like the cockpit layout. The designer and builder, Gerry Douglas, did an excellent job explaining how he put the boat together and the choices that he made. I was impressed by the overall layout abovedecks and below. We didn’t have a ton of wind when we sailed it, but it acquitted itself nicely. It seemed like a pretty straightforward rig that my wife and I could handle pretty comfortably. In other words, it wasn’t complicated."

Fantastic boat great finish too. There is a half dozen Catalina s at my dock, and I sailed on all of them . I love the way they sail . The best part is the customer service .

Having had Catalinas in the past it’s an interesting boat however, 1) couldn’t you have finished the your before you set sail ? 2) the storage is horrible for extended sailing both in the galley and salon, 3) the bbq where do you stand on the swim platform ? , 4) the tender storage ; if your at anchor to start inflating the tender, I do assume there is an inflation device, engine storage. Before these issues I thought it was great sailboat. Btw. I never write in. I’ve had a loyalty to Catalina though throughout my 55 years of sailing I’ve had Cheoy Lee, Endeavors, and Catalinas. My first sailboat was a 22’ Catalina. ,

Hi Michael, thanks for watching and commenting on the Catalina 545. It is really a spectacular boat. To answer your questions: 1) we wanted to give the viewers a sense of being on the boat while underway. 2) There is abundant storage throughout the boat, including the galley and salon. We did not go through every storage area in the video. 3) The bbq is designed for easiest access from the swim platform. 4) Yes, you would have an inflation device for the dinghy, either electric or manual. Yes, there is engine storage under the starboard aft cockpit seat. Glad that you are a loyal Catalina fan. Catalina has been building boats since the 80's and continually improving their product. The 545 is the latest of their new Ocean class designs. Thanks again for commenting.

Thanks for the tour. But does anyone know if someone could escape from the owner’s cabin if there was a fire? The deck hatch seems too high off the bed to get out unless the person has something to stand on that is sturdy @19:22.

This boat has the worse cold food storage I have ever seen on a boat this size. The refrigeration is so small it's comical. The so called deep freeze looks like it has perhaps 2 inches of insulation in the top, and most likely the rest of the way around in the very small box. Regardless of how good the rest of the boat may be, no one on board is having fun with next to nothing to eat or drink. This very important aspect of any long range boat being so ineffectively presented, I have to wonder what else is overlooked on this boat.

Hi Jamie, We are sorry that your impression of the refrigeration and freezer space is negative. This boat was designed by sailors for sailors. There is options for additional refrigeration adn, on this boat, there is refrigeration in the cockpit table. Having done many long trans-oceanic passages, I have learned that you need to plan for the available space on any boat and understand how to provision for long voyages. This boat has abundent refrigerated space and would make a great long distance passagemaker. We would encourage you to take a look aat this boat, then comment again on your impression of the cold staorage.

This boat is designed for being parked in a slip for life, in any kind of weather there aren't enough hand holds. I'm surprised it doesn't have a jacuzzi with a remote......Honey where did you leave the damn remote? I want a hot bath.....

Hi Don. We beg to differ with you. This boat was designed by sailors for offshore sailing. There is more than adequate hand holds. They may not show up very well in the video, but there are handholds through out the boat. Also note that all corners are rounded.

Don - why would you care if the boat was parked in a slip for life ? 99.99% of boats spend 99.99% of their life in a slip. BTW - Its called "docked", not parked. A real sailor would know that.

Terrible boat tour !! Glass floor -couldn’t see it in video.horrible cold storage for a 54 ft boat.storage sucked.um um um cool let’s see what else um um!! What a captivating narration 😂😂😂.this sailboat isn’t for me
