Catan Pro Climbs To Rank 1 - Final Day Game 4

We lost the first 3 games of the day. It's not a great feeling right now, but we are not giving up! I am determined to go for the #1 spot on the global leaderboard. Here is the 4th game I played on the final day of the leaderboard season. I have just around 7 hours to make this happen. Can I do it? Let's find out.

I think my favorite bit about red's toxicity was how they berated black for getting 4th, but red took the biggest elo hit of the game.

I think the main difference between online and in person is that people are a lot more emotional and care more about revenge online, great tips on dealing with those types of players

Feel bad for Black here. Had two games like this in Season 3 where people got tilted and started throwing the game. Worse, in my case, than blocking and robbing a particular player, they were trading their entire hands away for one card. An interesting challenge to fight back against but too lopsided in the end. Fair play to him for calling out Red's hypocrisy; he says he doesn't care about winning, then asks to be fed road at the end.

You definitely benefitted from the Red-Black grudge-match by default this game, but I still feel you played this game quite well to the extent you probably would have edged the board anyway if not for Red's irrational blocks and being let off easy with the robber in general. 🙂 Can't wait to see the other wins in your eleventh hour rally! 🙂

I love how you agreeing with them at the start that blacks setup is op led to constant hits on black through out the game. Their setup is great however as the game progressed there should had been a shift of focus. Just goes to show some tables lack initiative to shift focus. Although your rolls were very strong here. Everything went according to plan!

Nice win Drew, but was also kind of handed to you. That first expansion spot was amazing and the red-black beef helped a lot. But these are the games you need after you had the ones, where the 9s just don't hit.

You could record games and add commentary/post later for efficiency. Otherwise, fantastic videos, I don't even know Cantan and I'm still watching.

I usually always share post game analysis. All these games were played back to back on the same day. After some of the games, my instinct was to shake off the loss and jump right back into the next game. Glad you are here :)

Kind of crazy but, the decision at 7:38 to take from black because red seemed a bit emotional could very well have won you the game. No way ever know but, it's likely in my mind.

While this is true, black is clearly in 2nd and also drews only potential road comp. There is no reason to ever rob red here imo

There should be a way to report players like red, maybe penalise them with negative karma at least. But tbh black was not helping himself, when I see an emotional player I just stop tabletalk and hope someone else pisses them off.

why didn't you pick up 3:1 port instead of brick port? doesn't add production but trading 4 wood everytime is not optimal

It’s all about timing. 62 settle is always there for me, but the brick port isn’t. Especially since blue is looking for settle opportunities. If I take the 62 first, there is a good chance blue might beat me to the brick port. Plus building down adds to the longest road play for the win. In Catan, if a play accomplishes multiple objectives at the same time, then it’s typically a good move.
