Its about space to expand I think, if blue or orange expand there phantom has only 1 or 2 settle spots left, 3-1 is the less contested Spot. If he settles 3-1 first there is also less Potential for a roadsneak

That 8 10 brick port would have been a juicy 2nd pick I think. Can build to the 9 sheep, blocks orange's brick port, you can still build to one of the 6 wheat spots... lots of great benefits.

I agree. I think red is trying to play defensively block out the 5611. 5810 to the brick port is just really good.

I see this a lot with low ranked players thinking they are out of contention for road just because they can't connect. Kind of funny watching OJ realize they missed the win as they port for the road that would have been game.
