Catastrophic Magnet Fishing Expedition: Uncovering Hidden Hazards Around Lake Michigan!
Join us on a thrilling and perilous journey as we travel from Menominee, Michigan, around Lake Michigan, ending in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Our adventure takes us through popular and dangerous cities such as Mackinaw City, Traverse City, Bay City, Saginaw, Flint, Lansing, and many more.
Our trip took unexpected turns: we discovered a gang member's gun, felt unsafe due to a suspicious reporter, and had to make a quick escape from a city. We eventually turned in the firearm to the state police in Lansing, only to witness a drunken kayaker nearly drowning, leading to a dramatic rescue and arrest.
A near-crash due to a faulty brake system and a pothole forced us to drive cautiously back to Indiana, cutting our trip short. After a bout of illness and ongoing car repairs, I’ve had time to reflect on the dangers we faced.
This journey has profoundly impacted my life, making me view magnet fishing more cautiously. If you decide to try magnet fishing, be aware of your surroundings. Stay safe, and happy fishing!

That rock you didn't know what it was is a Youper Light. If you put it under a black light, it lights up. In my younger years, I used to go hunting them at night, when I was back home.

Since we retired, magnet fishing is on the list for cheap entertainment. But have to catch up on home projects first. We want to get our old aluminum boat in the water and cruise rivers like The Fisher.

Hi Dani These videos are great! I’m so interested in this hobby. I’d love to see a video about “getting started in magnet fishing.” A beginners guide, per se. What are your thoughts on the cheapo kits they sell on Amazon? If I just wander down to the creek by my house (Chicago River/Middle Fork) do you think a cheap kit would be do the job?

I really want to do magnet fishing, but I've got a pacemaker now (since 2022) and am afraid of exposing it to the magnet. Even though the warnings are only for magnets close to the chest, and my pacemaker is "MRI safe," I still worry.
