CATASTROPHIE ahead for a Little Blue El Camino!

This one started out as a simple upgrade, we're just removing the front factory sway bar and replacing it with a new larger aftermarket bar, one of the easist and most worthwhile upgrades you can do to a classic car. Unfortunately this little 1965 Chevy El Camino was hiding a dirty and terrible secret, which we soon discover.
Unfortunately this is reality when it comes to the classic car market, these cars have been through decades of life, and often some more the questionable repairs or upgrades along the way.

Unfortunately, Terry, there are other issues where this level of surgery just doesn't make much sense. But we'll see, this may not be the last of it!

I appreciate the honesty and that’s exactly why I brought it to you guys. This wasn’t the ending I was hoping for but I was able to buy a 66 with a solid body and frame. I’ve got a lot of work ahead of me but I’ll be happy to eventually have a car where I know exactly what’s on it. Looking forward to working with you more in the future!

We have a mechanic in my little town in NC that I've been using for years that reminds me of rich...i trust him 100% to do a job and is trust worthy and that is hard to find these days...

Rich,Im sure you did your due diligence and looked the rest of the frame over. Because ill bet there's more that SOMEONE, at some point in time has tried to hide. Sadly,Ive been on the receiving end of a phone calls like this. Yes the truth can and usually is painful, However the TRUTH is what makes you and others. That do this type of repairs and work,the good guys in the business.

I would try to find another frame and repair it well, that would alleviate further issues.

Rich, this kind of thing makes me sad. Go get the real chisel, not chisel jr and really open the barrel of worms. I have plenty of wobble pops for the final elements.

After that first hole or two show up, you know this whole story changes. Not sure we WANT to go poking around anymore than that, already upsetting enough for us AND our customer.

Unfortunately Rich I know a few people that have done this kinda work and just sent it down the road. I could not have the conscience to do something like that just to make a few bucks.

If you get a metal shard in your eye use a bio magnet , first before you head to doctor I use a swim Mask after I got tried of getting them .

I would if the body is worth it hod rod shop frame move on to the fast lane , Bonding a frame with putty should be a criminal charge .

@user-ss9zm8lw5b Well, it's sorta the same color , but that's the only thing that looks similar , Mrs Vicki's is a little darker OG general motors sea foam blue lacquer paint, that one is some after market brand teal base coat clear coat and it's as wavey as a washboard down the side,...

yes, it looks like a mud buggy for sure, very wavey, most of that bodtwork will fall out in a few years, I have neever seen mud last much over 5 years
