Really fun kayak catch and cook video filed with Die Hard Fishing. He on a Hobie and myself on an Ocean Kayak Caper. These Cabezon and Lingcod have the most vibrant colored meat and organs. This color is very uncommon in other types of fish but Cabezon and Lingcod often display this trait. They have spines on their heads which are venomous and can cause burning, swelling and hospitalization if pricked. Their meat turns from blue to white when cooked and is perfectly fine to eat. Their eggs are however poisonous to humans.

Link to the swimbait and gear is in the description if you wanted to know. Also used a 3oz jighead but 2 or 2.5 would have worked too. Easier to feel bottom with the 3 though. Oh, thinking about getting a small boat soon too :) well, for rockfish/salmon next season..

One thing I really like about your channel is that it exposes us to different ways of fishing, and different types of waters, with different types of target species. Obviously, I fish mainly in Texas, with occasional trips to Florida. I also very much like the catch and cook episodes. The fact that you do it right on shore is a nice added touch. It wouldn’t be a bad idea to cook your fish at a higher temperature with an oil that has a higher smoking point than butter, like olive oil or canola oil, that way you can get a better sear on your fish. You can always finish with butter if you like, to avoid burning the butter.

Fishing is so much fun. He’s so lucky. I love in Wisconsin. No ocean. No tropical beauty. Cold. Freshwater fishing is fun too but due to the constant pressure most inland lakes get, the bounty is few and far between. Ocean fishing is my dream. Great vid ty!

Your right, but many inland lakes up north have zero fishing pressure and can catch a bounty. But the amount of species of fish and other stuff in ocean makes inland lakes look weak. We are really missing out on the resources of the ocean.

@aattitude very very true i see GW all the time they circle my boat for a few min and then just take off.In all my years fishing the farralones to monterey i only seen 2 attacks one was in capitola of a skiff the other was coast gaurd pier in monterey but thats pretty dam good within 45 years!Im more worried about orcas they were chasing me from soquol hole all the way backnin to santa cruz harbor..they kept bumping my 21 ft boat scared the hell out of me i dont kno why they did that..Lucky my boat goes almost 50mph.

@aattitude well they sure scared the crap oit of me! They actually bumped it so hard i thought i was going ro flip so i started my engine made sure they were by my engine cuz i dont want to hurt them with my prop and full speed ahead..After like 10 min i slowed down dam things were right by me..i went in the harbor and left..maybe i was by a calf i dunno but they sure seemed to be kinda aggressive i kno they aint but sure scared me..Now all i do is look for dark shadows in the wafer now i spook myself..ughh i hate it.lol

My first time fishing was a camp trip, and I caught a bushel of Mussels and was told to throw it back. Since then I’ve always wanted to go fishing again but I don’t know where to fish or what to use, but I’m just living through this guy and learning.
