Thank you for sharing this wisdom that can make all the difference in how we support, love and presence the most cherished and special people in our lives. These examples and insights are also a wake-up call to the opportunity we have to pay attention and make sacred the passing of our loved ones and ourselves. Thank you Dr. Michael Fratkin for all of this!!

Michael, I hear so much about your dedication to the difficult profession of Palliative Medicine from your father. He has every right to be so proud of you. You are a credit to our noble profession and have taken a difficult path to honor our oath. My salute to you!

So nice and so real. Acceptance. How is it for people like myself who have no family, or very few members far away? I've known loneliness at its depths much of my life. I most likely will have to manage my death in a different way with very little comfort as it progresses. I do know, however, that the other side is a welcoming place. I'd like to leave this side soon.

This is the most inspiring thing I've seen in a while! Thank you so much! I have witnessed more than one death of very close people in the past few months, and actually this is so relieving. Thanks again!

He didn't say it was. He only said it was an important human experience. That was a truth. When you think about it, plants die too, some studies even show electrical signals that indicate screaming if a plant is set on fire. It's not the topic though. Although, I think a ted talk about how animals grieve would be an amazing talk!

Have you experienced "Graceful Passages", an elegant book with two CDs addressing death. Messages about people's facing their own death! Used in hospice! A must for anyone who wants to face the complexities of dying. I'm facilitating a workshop on "Transitioning into Death: A Personal Exploration" on Jan 17th. The workshop is for men of any age.

So much promise . . . and then so many platitudes. Medicine is welcome to manage my physical symptoms, but if this is all you've got to offer my intellect then stay away. I'll keep my philosopher, thanks.
