Channel cats are what I grew up on. Its been awhile since I've had a good catfish fry but you just gave me more reason to go out and catch a mess of cats for the grease, so to speak. Thank you.

Blues and flatheads have a much whiter meat and in my opinion taste much better. Channel cats have some yellow meat that's fishy in some area's. I still eat them. You and your wife made a good team and I love how your not wasteful and thinking about the other fish. By gutting and bleeding it in the river, you made your fish taste better and you just fed allot of fish with the fishes guts. Good on you bro. I wish more people were like that. Cause I'm like that too.

I kept a couple channel cats we caught last week and i ate them on Wednesday. They were delicious. I'll definitely be eating more of them.

If you are open to a suggestion for better tasting catfish….remove the middle blood line when you’re filleting it, so it won’t taste like the bottom of the river. Also when cutting off the skin you want to cut about 1/8 inch up off from the skin to get rid any side fillet red blood lines.

Thank you for talking about over-harvesting bait fish. I fish in Florida and I get sick seeing people doing this. If people love fishing, they should want to keep those ecosystems intact.
