A GREAT day fishing the smelt run , as the salmon gorge themselves on smelt , it makes them easier to target ! I catch a few , and keep some for a delicious yet simple , honey garlic salmon recipe in a lovely Catch & Cook!

I'd be thrilled to catch a single 2lb landlock, let alone enough of them to have that kind of standard for keepers! I've got a lot of learning and exploring to do before I get there :lol:

Don’t bother that by, there’s always someone that gotta try and bring a feller a down. Using the bait fish lures you’ll get the bigger fish to hit anyways, a lot guys using worms won’t get the big ones because they are to busy with the smaller fish most times. Anyways great video as always buddy!

Comment didn’t bother me , I know I catch fish lol🤣 Just want people to understand how different variables have different outcomes & theres a lot more to it than simply casting a lure & retrieving. You’re 100% right , the tiny fish will be first to the worm 10/10 times. Big fish aren’t even intersted , they want what they eat naturally everyday. Thanks for watching !

For sure you do way better matching your lure to the fish's diet! For little brookies I do way better if my spinner is dressed with a nymph imitation. Little schooling shrimp or minnow imitations for mackerel. Perch rapala for lake trout. Little spoons for walleye. Makes a big difference. Unless you're fishing pike in which case the harder it thumps the better, it doesn't even have to look like a fish at all lol!

What location were you fishing in ? Do you do guided fishing tours because we are going to be at the Humber river this summer and would love to try some of these spots you are fishing in.

I’m not a licensed guide however I will / can guide residents of NL without a guide license ! If you’re a resident & that’s something you’re interested in , we can chat ! Thanks for your comment !

Do yous fish with the fly rod there or always spin cast?
@Braydencoish2 ай бұрын
When conditions are right , we’ll use the fly rod. Next couple of weeks will be prime for topwater takes , leading into July it only gets better. I SHOULD be thrown minnow streamers on the fly rod but I can’t bring myself to put down the spinning rod because of the distance advantage. Lol Thanks for watching !
