Update on The Pier: The pier portion is complete and the building is being framed out now. They're shooting for February 2020 which is only a few months away to reopen. In the meantime, the 'Rod and Reel' pier is just a few hundred yards away. Fishing is great there.

Mangrove snapper are so small that you need to clean quite a few to have a good meal, but they are sooo good! Making me proud to live in Florida where I can drive almost any direction and go fishing

If you go out to deeper water, and find bottom structure or a wreck, you will find nice size mangos, like 5 lber's...

I caught some mangrove snapper today at the other pier on anna maria Island since that one is closed right now, by cortez road. Caught it with squid oddly enough

Nate L. Sorry I know that you were asking Lindsey, but yes the “city pier” is still closed but the “rod and reel” pier and the “bridge Street pier” is still open.

Nate L. No manatee county has been extremely slow on fixing damage from Irma so there is no telling I hope soon that’s a great pier! But I know one thing for sure is that I want to be one of the first people that fish is it when it reopens. Feel free to touch base anytime to check the status.🤙

Thank you for the video. Is there a particular time of yr to catch these? What other baits can you use and what type of areas do you find them in ? Im in Clearwater. New to fishing, but this fish is my favorite to eat :) Trying to learn.

PrettyMissAshley thanks! You can also use live shrimp! The areas you want to look for are any area with structure such as bridges piers docks... definitely awesome your learning great idea to watch videos. The best advice I can give is use 12 lb leader and a 1/0 hook, put a split shot about 1ft from the hook

Hey Salty, been following your channel for a while, then I move to Bradenton and suddenly realize I'm in your hood - just around the corner on 9th. As regards Anna Maria pier, have you been there recently? I've been 3 times in Nov/Dec. Neither me or anybody else is catching anything of any value. In fact, in 7 outings in the area between the Skyway, Egmont, Anna Maria, and Terra Ceia and Manatee River mouth, nothing. Zippo. I used to catch tons two years ago. What gives??

Daniel Rivera yes, it definitely saddens me that the storm broke the pier to the point of them having to rip it out. But they are in the process of rebuilding a new one there.
