That's a wiper not a striper. Hybrid bass or Bodie bass. It's a cross between a striper and a white bass. Still loads of fun if you can figure them out. They're stocked in my local lake here in NC. I've been trying to figure them out for years. When they come up to feed on the surface like that they don't usually stay long.

Just a quick tip: bleed the stripper which will get rid or make the red bloodline less extreme.

Just a heads up. On the striper the dark red stuff on the back is the blood line and all that stuff that makes it taste fishy. Next time I’d recommend to take that out. In all awesome catch!

Hey man. Little tip with striped bass- bleed em out and gut and gill em as soon as you catch em and try and get right on ice. That red stuff in those fillets is cause they have a big blood line and it can damper the meat taste. It would taste even better bled!

Strippers and white bass feed like that.. That’s normal my friend they eat like that for a few minutes and then they go in deeper water as the minnows and shads move away. They to the same here in Texas!!! I would go back to the same spot and the same time and you will see them doing it again. Try spoons or rooster tails they can’t resist them when they are feeding like that.. 🎣🎣🎣👍🏼

Hey ace! I was wondering if you would wanna take a trip to Australia. I think Australia is actually a really good fishing spot. There are also amazing camping places that have the usual crawfish (craw dads) in rivers. I also think that it’s really easy to go shark fishing here. Eels are basically in every river in Australia and they are the best shark bait. If you want I can list about every fish that you can catch here. Including my favourite fish to catch wich is the flathead, flathead can grow up to 1 metre (3.28 feet) and even 20 cm (0.66 ft) flathead put up a great fight. I’m gonna mail you a crab trap and a bottle of some nice hot sauce and fifty bucks. I want to fish with you in the spring man. The fishing line/hand line for blue crabs is old school. You don’t have to be commercial to have traps. Joe can have two traps per person. You set them and let them soak while you fish. Crabs eating your shrimps while you fish is one of the biggest PITA I’ve ever had trying to saltwater fish. Been a subscriber for over 1.5 years man. You rock. I really want to fish one day. East TN represent!

Hey Ace, those fish that the Striper were feeding on are Shad. There are two type here in the south, Threadfin and Gizzard Shad. They can get to 6" or more but usually they are about an inch long and very silver in color. They start jumping on the surface when the bass start feeding. Follow the shad and you will catch a lot of fish! I usually throw floating jerkbaits if there is a lot of action right on the surface going on but if I am seeing the shad jump on the surface but not seeing fish striking them a lot on the surface then I will try a sinking jerkbait. Usually silver or white like you were using, something that mimics the silhouette of a shad closely works great!

We cook our stripped bass with plain butter, salt and pepper, in a pan. very simple, but very tasty!!! Some of my friends make fish and chips with stripper. Also very good! And we shave the red meat off before cooking it, it is even better!! Nice video! Thanks!

Ace, that is a hybrid striped bass. Once you bleed them and trim the red meat and take out the middle red vein, it’s pretty good. I noticed that you left a lot of the red meat on. Try smoking the bass next time. It’s very good that way too. 👍🏻

So I fish for striper and they usually choose around the afternoon about 3 hours before it gets dark as their major feeding time. The early in the morning around 5am-9am are also major feeding times for stripers.

Take out the blood line its fishy with it on. It also tastes really good breaded and fried
