The thing about perch is they’re pretty smart. They will only grab the bait and drag it a few feet and makes you unsure whether or not there’s a fish at the end of your line. So the trick is when they grab the bait, let the line out for a while but once they swallow the bait for real, you will feel the vibration in the line and that’s when you lock your reel and pull the line hard so your hook will hook onto its mouth.
