After driving to the end of the road, I keep on hiking for several miles deeper into the mountains until I come to an absolutely perfect stretch of river.

Would love to see you set up your entire system in a video one day... knots, tip it length, etc... always looking to learn new techniques and styles. Love your videos, thank you for sharing!

Those were some beautifully colored fish. I don't fish much any more, but I've never caught a cut throat and they are so pretty. Thanks for the video.

What a beautiful stream! Wish I knew where it is, but I’m VERY glad you are not saying.

Really appreciate your honesty when you review a rod. It'd be easy to give praise for a rod like that in search of rewards.

Certainly a stream worthy of the hike. Great day on the water, sir. Thanks, and enjoy.

It's always worth hiking in a bit more. Sometimes I have to actively tell myself to stop hiking already and start fishing.

Tristan, oops you did it again!!!! Started with a negative prognostic opinion of the rod, but given your optimistic persona transformed "a bad rod day" into an INCREDIBLY PRODUCTIVE CATCH RATE DAY!!!!! Kudos Dude!!! In your outro excellent commentary reflecting on the shallow pocket pools and relative ease in wading such a stream. Advising how to find a stream in National forest where to park and hiking in at least a couple miles. Classy content, as always!!! Thank you.

What a gorgeous river! Were I lucky enough to fish a stream of that size and relative openness, I think I’d use my “go-to” Sagiri. Thank you for another super outing!

Good times! That fly raises the question.....when a fish slurps down a bee, can the fish get stung?

Hi Tristan, love your videos and was wondering if you ever fish urban streams that. Maybe go close or through town? Keep up the good work.

Always feel better after watching your vids. Quick request: could you make a short vid on safety while you’re out doors? How do you avoid brown bears, mountain lions etc? Any must haves when you’re a helicopter ride away from a decent hospital? Coming from an East Coaster who loses sleep over black bears

Great video of successful day of fishing. Perhaps the mid fork was over geared for your style of fishing. Wondering why you didn’t switch to a lighter rod. Anyways love and respect your videos. Always enthusiastic.

When a rod feels like that, try using a heavier line like a furled leader or even a PVC line. It probably needs to be loaded somewhat to feel balanced. Awesome stream though, those cutts were stunning!

Another great video Tristan. Thanks again for sharing. I yearn daily to fish these beautiful locations you hike to fish. Utah is one of my favorite places to fish as well but i need to get back away from the main roads more.

Thanks for sharing your wilderness experience and the unvarnished rod review Tristan. I’m wondering if you actually saw bees in the habitat and it led you to use the Reel Flies imitator or if you figured it was “buggy” enough on its own (clearly the trout thought so!). Those were some gorgeous cutthroat. Looked like a magical place and glad your effort to get there paid off handsomely. Thanks again!

Nice... I guess from what i now know about Wasatch rods i wouldn't buy one for small fish/streams. They mostly are clearly designed for bigger quarry wich is not what i target when tenkara fishing. But that's just me... Thanks for sharing 🙏🥂

Google "Measure Net medium" and you'll find it. And be sure to get the one with the rubberized bag.

You took a tomahawk to Top Chef to give it a second chance? Come on. Darth Quattro is what I take to rivers like this.
@TenkaraAddict
@TenkaraAddict Ай бұрын
I used to have the Darth Quattro but sold it. It was fine but not amazing. It's crazy to me that you would use a rod that short on a larger stream like this.

@@TenkaraAddict It's got shortcomings, literally, but i've found it to be really effective in depth like this. Part of that is finding that brookies really love a swung small streamer, so that drastically increases the covered surface area. That is a wide stream for it, definitely, but I dunno, I haven't found them to care too much if you get close. It was also the only one I had fora year, but the point is you took a bass rod/fastwater rainbow rod to catch hershey bars, lol. Thanks for the video.
@jcarry5214
@jcarry5214 Ай бұрын
@@TenkaraAddict Also, half the reason I carry it to rivers like this is because I'm elk hunting with it in my bag. That's important context. But it was meant to be a comment on the power level.

Luv the vids Tristan!...I personally use a 7'6" 3wt. Orvis clearwater with 3wt reel, way more versatile than a stick with line on it... here in the Sierra Nevada mountains
